Personal Development & the Internet Entrepreneur

Personal Development for the Internet Entrepreneur

Personal development is essential for the internet entrepreneur.

While it’s no secret I have a soft spot for personal development for ‘personal’ reasons, I’m convinced that on a professional level a solid internal foundation and belief system is a tremendous asset and can take you further regardless of your business or goals.

Being an internet entrepreneur isn’t unlike being an offline entrepreneur. Building any business does require a positive mindset, focus and work. Success is based on your own efforts and the buck stops with you!

How Does Personal Development benefit you as an Internet Entrepreneur?

Developing and Maintaining a Positive Attitude.

A positive attitude is an essential key to achieving success. Again, growing a business is hard work and occasionally, while plugging through the building and learning process, you will be faced with learning curves and challenges.

Facing frustration without a positive attitude can easily tempt you to throw in the towel. Maintaining a positive outlook helps you focus on the big picture and gives you strength to keep on trucking.

Staying Motivated.

Working from home is a whole different ball game than working a JOB. Working a JOB means you have no choice but to stay motivated and keep going. When you work for You Inc., it’s all too easy to put things off or make excuses not to stay on course.

Motivation builds self discipline and is paramount when working towards a goal. A good dose of daily motivation keeps you going and reminds you of all the reasons you are working so hard.

Building Self Confidence.

Being an internet entrepreneur means you will be thrown into situations where you are forced to step outside of your comfort zone.

I know I would have never dreamed at one time I’d have my mug plastered all over the internet sharing my opinion on random topics for the world to see. Nor would I have ever imagined getting on You Tube.

Building the Confidence to face a few fears got me past those speed bumps and after a while many things became easy. What’s more, I realized that there are many people who connect with much of the information I share and have the same point of view which is incredibly uplifting.

Tapping into the Law of attraction.

Tapping into the law of attraction has been an awesome experience. It also helps build self confidence in many ways.

It’s easy to ‘wonder’ who could possibly find value in “lil ol you” but the fact is, by being genuinely you, it’s amazing how many people can sense who you are and feel attracted to you just for being down to earth. This is very encouraging, fulfilling and good for the soul.

I could probably rattle on for days, but in essence personal development means to grow internally. By growing on the inside you also grow on the outside helping you to develop the personal power to face limiting beliefs, uncover & conquer weaknesses, and discover strengths.

Building courage and motivation to maintain a positive mindset, improves self discipline, and help you to overcome and trudge though anything that crosses your path and is a key ingredient to building any business.

Personal development is essential for every internet entrepreneur whether you’re marketing an opportunity, product or service. Essentially it’s the fuel that will keep you on track & working towards achieving your goals.

I loved reading this post Jayne because everything you say is totally true.

I was speaking to someone recently who was telling me that they were sick of doing personal development because they had done just as much of this as someone else and that person was successful and they weren’t.

I explained that the reason it was called PERSONAL development was because it has nothing to do with anybody else’s development and that obviously she needed to do more than the person she knew.

I don’t think she really got it which is a bit sad. It’s amazing how much more progress we make when we mind our own business and get in with it until we see results.

Hey Marcus, thanks for visiting me over at my place. Next time I’ll put the kettle on!

I loved your comment about personal development being “personal” and in fact, you have given me added ammo & boost I needed to validate couple of post ideas I’ve been chewing on for the past week or so. (I’m sure you might relate to that!).

You can’t just ‘say’ that you are a fan of personal development and expect to develop! It’s about self growth – not the growth of others!

Thanks once again Marcus, I look forward to seeing you soon! ~Jayne~

Hi Jayne, great article on personal development it is so important that we focus some of our time on being a better self.

We are only limited by our imaginations, we can only achieve what we believe is possible.

As the saying goes we are what we eat!

Thanks for sharing,
Larry

jayne:

awesome post! no stronger statement than being “genuine.” When I first started out, I bought into all the hype and was promoting crap. Then one day I woke up and realized…just be me. I found my “voice” and it’s been a great experience. I think many people fail online because they are not being true to themsselves….instead they try to be the next quadrillia zillionaire overnight.
Really great article!

Hi Lisa, great to meet you. I am glad you were able to find your ‘voice’ and realize your own value. I, like you could not live with myself promoting hype. It’s important to focus on the needs of others first and as you say not try to bluff people into thinking you can become a ‘quadrillia zillionaire’ overnight! I think common sense has to prevail sooner or later and we all have to take responsibility is realizing it IS possible to have a great online business, but your intentions and motivations have to come from a place of truth, first and foremost. Thanks for sharing a terrific comment!
