What’s the Best Online Business Opportunity?

What is the best online business opportunity?

This, believe it or not has been the number one query returned on a survey I mailed out to my ‘newbie’ list last week.

I decided, just for fun to send a questionnaire to a group of people asking how I might be able to help them most, what type of venture they were interested in, or what they might like to explore in the way of starting an online business.

Out of 80 people on this relatively small list, 56 actually opened the email. Out of the 56 who opened the email, 26 answered a few short questions. Out of the 26 who answered, 9 people asked: “what is the best online business opportunity for someone like me?” (Or words to that effect).

“Ha ha”… I thought, ‘self you must move in’…and while I admit it was incredibly tempting to state with confidence that my particular primary business of choice was beyond a shadow of a doubt the best online business opportunity on the planet :-) …I didn’t!

After a moment of pondering… I realized that would neither be fair nor even accurate for some, so since my main intention was to assist with glowing honesty, I managed to refrain and get a grip on my bubbling enthusiasm! ;-)

You see, the truth is, we humans are unique little critters. Our passions vary from person to person, so what I might do a handspring about, may not tickle your fancy in the same way… and that’s ok!

So with this in mind, I thought I would do my best to remain neutral, make a few suggestions and comparisons, and share a few unbiased thoughts instead:

With that said, I think the best place for anybody to start when searching for a business opportunity is do some research to determine the number of options available. I would recommend perhaps searching the “almighty Google” for options aligning with your interests, coupled with a healthy earning potential. (Naturally)

For me, although I have a number of hobbies that I am passionate about – i.e.: Horseback riding for one, … I didn’t feel that something like this would be ‘meaty’ enough to actually become a stable income earning solution.

With this acknowledged or at least determined, I chose to market an existing business opportunity with a proven track record in the personal development industry. (Something that I also enjoy).

There were many reasons I chose this route, but I feel the main push for me was the fact that “I” needed a swift change of mindset and felt that if I could find something that would rewire ‘me’ first and foremost, then only good could come out of it regardless whether I decided to market it or not.

I suppose the deciding factor was the simple fact that although there was a small investment to be made in order to have the ‘licence to market’ so to speak, that the value was all in the product and I would receive ‘bang for my buck’ in any event.

The business opportunity attached or associated to the product was an automatic no cost ‘option’ so even if I decided not to pursue the business side, there would be no financial ‘loss’ at the end of the day.

Another intriguing factor, one that some might find peculiar, is that while I have had decent experience in MLM (multi level marketing), and thoroughly enjoyed it… this particular opportunity is not…which is a bit of a change for me.

This venture instead is a Top Tier Direct Sales Model.

The difference between a Top Tier Direct Sales model and MLM is that when I form new partnerships, I get paid up front and do not rely on the performance of a down line in order to remain in business.

If those who choose to solely enjoy the benefits of the program without exercising the business opportunity associated …I am still in business regardless.

Though I do look after my partners and anybody who works with me in the way of training and support, my income is not reliant on their performance, which allows me the independence to branch out in other areas.

This has proven to be a satisfying choice and allowed me to enhance my primary passion with additional complimenting streams of income.

I suppose in many ways it’s a glorified affiliate program to a certain degree, allowing me to keep all my options open without interfering with my purpose. Again, with this said, it flies my kite, but may not fly yours! ;-)

Now speaking of affiliate programs, for you who may not know what an affiliate marketing opportunity is, let me “briefly” explain:

Affiliate marketing is a way of earning income by marketing somebody else’s product. More often than not, there is no direct investment on your part, although there are some exceptions.

Nevertheless, when you sign up to market ‘said product’ you will be issued a unique personal ‘affiliate link’. By promoting this product to others, if a sale is made through your personal affiliate link, you will be rewarded with a commission.

Obviously the commission amount will vary from product to product, so it is my suggestion to choose something with ‘decent’ rewards in order to compensate you for your time and energy.

I’m not going to get into too much depth of affiliate marketing on this post, but on my next post, with the exception that if you are indeed interested in learning more about affiliate marketing, the two programs that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND are as follows:

One Week Marketing Course and Rapid Profit Formula.

These two courses have taught me everything I know to generate a good income in affiliate marketing and although I won’t explain in detail here… just how awesome they are, I will share these two incredible programs that I have used to educate myself in depth, in my next post (*click here*). (Just in case this intrigues you and sounds like it might be the best online business solution for you). :-)

Now, earlier I briefly touched on Multi Level Marketing ventures. Just because I do not currently market this type of business does not mean to say that it is not an incredible option.

The truth is, it is… and can be ‘crazy rewarding’! I know many people who have done incredibly well marketing an MLM business opportunity, many who live the life of their dreams by doing so. (No fibbing here!)

A few of my personal friends are in a Health and Wellness MLM, and there seems to be a number of similar companies who adopt this business model….but keep in mind, there are many other types of companies to choose from as well.

With a little research I am sure you can find a solid and legitimate Multi Level Marketing option that aligns with your passions if this sounds interesting to you. I would also suggest partnering with the right individual to help you along, and wonderful things can start to happen if you’re willing roll up your sleeves and work at it.

So to get back to the question of “what is the best online business opportunity?”, I really don’t feel the answer is a “one size fits all”.

What I do suggest however, is that whatever you choose should be not only of interest to you (which is important), but a solid, legitimate proven model, that does not require a huge monetary investment to get started; yet has the potential to reward you both personally and financially at the same time.

If being involved allows you the freedom to learn the skill sets you need to grow, then that’s even better.

Since becoming involved in my particular business, I was able to not only feel better about myself, but learn an awful lot about internet marketing in the meantime.

Fast forward three years, I enjoy marketing it just the same as I did the day I discovered it, but also have gained enough knowledge to branch off and enjoy the benefits of affiliate marketing in other niches at the same time.

I guess in a nutshell, my final pieces of advice in order to determine the best online business opportunity for YOU, would be to:

1) Be open to the many possibilities that are yours for the taking.

2) Choose something that fulfills you. I have found based on personal experience that if you “love’ what you do… what you do will love you back… and you will have more energy and passion to go for the gusto.

3) Never invest in anything unless you have performed due diligence.

4) Never invest more than you can afford. There are so many affordable business options at your finger tips, you do not need to invest heavily…so never let anyone tell you otherwise.

5) Make a start and start somewhere! Even if you don’t have a lot of time… do it anyway. Life is short and working online is the most cost effective way of creating your own economy and can be worked into your schedule as you can afford the time.

6) Believe in yourself. You can create the life you envision. If others can so can you!

7) Never be afraid to ask for help. The people behind the web pages you see are humans just like you. Most are more than pleased to help you along.

8) Enjoy it… life is far too short not to live your dreams!

I hope I didn’t rattle on too much about my business… but obviously it’s something that has helped me turn it around. Those are my thoughts and I personally chose the best online business for me. :-)

You need to find the same thing for YOU… as I’ve said… ‘different strokes for different folks’…

Just choose something that ‘lights your fire’… be sensible and then take action.

Affiliate marketing allows you to learn all about online business, like email-marketing, traffic generation, leads capturing, etc. It’s a really cool way for newbies.

Hi Jayne,

Wonderful post here. I agree also what Joe had commented. In summary, your statement, “Just choose something that ‘lights your fire’… be sensible and then take action” definitely speaks to the person who is at the point of making such a decision with network marketing.

Thanks for the information and keep it up the great work.

HI Nelly, thanks for stopping. As you may have noticed, I am onfire about what I do (LOL)… but we are not all the same.

If we decide to take this route, it makes not sense to choose something that we feel ‘iffy’ about when there is so much choice.

Thanks Nelly,

Lovely to see you.

Hi Jayne,
You hit the nail on the head when you said find something that “lights your fire”. This is such a hugely important point. Many jump into something out of desperation but have no real passion for it. If you are going to do business it is a good idea to find something you will love to do. I have heard many times in network marketing the statement to new prospects, “Do you love what you do now for a living? If not, can’t you do something for 2-5 years if it brings you financial freedom even if you don’t like it?” My answer is NO I cannot.

If the biz opp or other does not light my fire then why waste my energy. Due diligence is right Jayne, great post!

HI Joe, thanks for stopping by the leave a comment.

Really … it is what ‘floats our boat’ that is important isn’t it? I mean, most of us choose this industry to not only have a little more freedom, but most importantly to enjoy.

I think if you are going to go this route, you may as well take a little extra care and select something you do enjoy. Life is too short to do otherwise.
