Hi Jayne,
Was thinking about what we often have to go through in order to arrive at that one thing that will cause the wheels to start turning. This is where things can get adventurous if we are willing to go the distance. I have said many times, “Why am I doing this?” not realizing how close i was to victory.

Hi Joe… I agree that if we are indeed willing to go the distance, each and every day is the perfect opportunity to stumble across the ‘one thing’. I like to live full of expectation as you never know what is around the corner. As you say… Victory just might be there and jump out and say ‘boo’ :-)

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Jayne,
I agree with virtually all you mentioned here. If a guy falls sick it can easily be traced to a particular activity he has always indulged himself in and if it’s the other way round, if he just got promoted at his workplace or got a break in business, it can usually be attributed to a particular activity or trait in him.

Thanks for sharing Jayne,

Hi Emmanuel, the “one thing” can be anything… good or bad. In business often it only takes one thing to propel you to the next level too… or can cause you to blow it completely! (lets focus on the positives! ) :-)
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Jayne – awesome post:)

I completely agree – people think they need to make so many changes in their lives but really you only need to change one thing at a time and that one thing can be life changing.

I’ve been putting off for a long time my health kick… I didn’t think I had the time to go to the gym every day for 1.5 hours but I finally decided to go for it and invest some time in me… I have to say, whilst it’s only been a month now I’m loving it. I feel fantastic and in that timeframe my turnover has doubled… whether it’s coincidental I don’t know my business has been growing every month but what I do know is I feel fantastic and am so pleased that I’m making this change in my life:)

Hi Lilach, Thanks for your awesome comment. Your business has done well due to a series of ‘things’ but likely there was an invisible turning point when things started to take off. It could have been just one post that broke the barrier between being where you were… to where you are. You may have written something that really ‘grabbed’ a number of people… and was shared to others… and those ‘new’ readers subscribed… and shared some more….

point is… it may have been just one action that really got the wheels turning.

I am pleased you are rocking it both at the gym and in business!! Good for you!! Keep it up.

Hi Jayne,

How awesome for you to be exposed to the concept of being an entrepreneur at such an early age. My parents were big on education, so I thought the only way to be successful was to go to college and get a job. I did that, and I have a good job. But it’s not enough. I want to build wealth for me and my family, not for someone else.

I really enjoyed reading this post. Thanks so much for sharing.

HI Jamella, I do feel I’m lucky in so many ways but the ‘entrepreneurial spirit’ really formed the ‘me’ I am today.

There is no wrong way… I believe we do all need to take different paths through life. your good job is a great stepping stone to sustain you while you build your awesome business!

Hi Jayne,

Excellent post! Your posts has got to be one of the most exhaustive on the web. It’s obvious you put alot of time and efforts into these posts. Great job!

Yeah it is true that one thing could alter our entire existence. Also sometimes one event could definitely put a meeting to all the thing ,a logical point where some major actions would be taken.

My turning point period in business comes after reading Magnetic Sponsoring. GReat book!

Thanks for shariing

Hi Tosin, thanks so much for your lovely comment.

Yes Magnetic Sponsoring is such a ‘simple’ program/ebook… that says to much… and explains so much in such a common sense way. It helps you drill down to where your focus needs to be without the bells and whistles.

I am so glad you read it Tosin! :-) Otherwise you may not be here and I would have never met you!!

Hi Jayne,

You’re very lucky to have such a father that would support you in starting your own business. Normally fathers tell the kids to study hard and get a stable job!

If there was one thing that really changed my life, it was when I got made redundant and worked for an insurance company.

The company’s training was amazing. I learned how to sell, stay positive and why relationships matter. A normal office job don’t teach you those things.

Hi Alan, isn’t that just great!! I love companies who instil positive training in their employees to arm them for life. I had the pleasure of working for a similar company in my younger days too.

I attribute many ‘one time’ experiences to that company also… as well as having my dad inspire me. Yes I am lucky to have been pointed in this direction. Things make us who we are!

Jayne,
I think we all resonate with the ‘one thing’ really is your attitude of ” ‘knowing’ believing and keeping going that has a way of making things work out.” Certain specific opportunities come and go, but what sustains us is our mindset. As to your specific question I would answer thus: The one tragedy/opportunity that broke and made me was my TBI in 2003 and this past 10 years of rebuilding:)
Cheers!

HI Rebecca… I think I’m losing it.. I could have sworn I responded to your comment last week. :-|

Belief is a HUGE factor in anything… and I do have drafts in place to post in the not too distant future. That goes for anyone.

I am thinking a TBI is a traumatic brain injury? Good grief girl. I’m sorry to hear that… it seems however you have used that ‘one thing’ to create awesome change. I wish you all the best!

Hi Jayne;
Thanks for this great post. I agree with much of what you said. There are moments and decisions in life that have profound impact on what follows. But I’ve found that there are always ups and downs in life. One thing may set us on the right path but reaching the success is usually the result of many other thing and decisions. Only in retrospect do we recognize the point where we started on the path that brought us to where we are.

The way i see it, we should treat every – thing moment or decision – as if it is The One. Later on, we may look back and recognize the thing that changed our life and raise a glass to celebrate it, but practically there is not much point in thinking about it now.

Of course it could be that, I think this way now only because I haven’t encountered my ‘one thing’ yet and would sing a different tune altogether once I have.

Hi Ankesh… beautifully put when you say “in retrospect do we recognize the point where we started on the path that brought us to where we are”.

I also am right there with you Ankesh… we should look at everything as the ‘one thing’…. because ‘one thing’ always leads to another. :-) I love to drill down though… it gives me a great appreciation looking aback at the many stepping stones.

Your One thing just might happen today…. here’s to living w ith eyes wide open!

Hi Jayne,

Wow, another power-packed and very inspirational post!

The “one thing” (I can’t help but chuckle about it and you know why) can really make or break you. Sometimes it comes more than once in your life. That’s when you are very lucky. Sometimes it doesn’t come at all or so you think because you haven’t had an open mind and closed your eyes to the opportunity that could have set you free.

So always have an open mind, and open heart and go through life with your eyes wide open and you’ll be alright.

Thanks for sharing your great thoughts!

LOL Ilka… I am not sure if my mind was to wander… or not… but if great minds think alike like ours seem to…. I’ll be back after my cold shower! ;-)

On a serious note… that’s what I’ve always said… ‘eyes wide open’ and keep on truckin… and as you say, sometimes more than one thing will happen but it’ll all contribute to the end result.

Something we all need to remind ourselves of once in a while. …. (like for me today… for instance)….

talk soon

You know what Jayne? The ‘one thing’ (I couldn’t resist!) that I love about you is you always bring goodness in your posts!

There will always be that one thing that can make or break us and I think it’s about our perspective (which I also recall you writing a post about) on the matter.

The best advice I too think that people will take away from this is exactly what you said: “with the right attitude and the tenacity to keep on trucking… you can succeed.” Sharing!

HI Kesha, you sure have a way of making me feel over the moon. With that said, LOL… you should read my next post… perhaps not so pink and frilly… as I like to call it.

It really does boil down to tenacity… and more blinking tenacity… but eventually things just come… sometimes keeping going is the one thing we all need to do on some days!

Lovely to see you my friend.

Hi Brenda… you are right ‘everything’ is connected but often there is one thing that causes us to take certain paths but I do agree we need to always be open.
