Do you want to start your own business online… or have you been busy thinking “instead of doing”?

If you’re like a good handful of people I’ve talked to this week… you’re doomed from the get-go… unless of course you snap out of it and get cracking!

Why?

Because it seems you’re not as serious as you say you are.

Instead (it seems) you’d rather complain about the economy… or the fact you’re laid off. You’d rather spend the day on Farmville than improve your circumstances

You come up with every excuse in the book… rather than read a book that’d do you some good.

You talk yourself out of getting started because you can’t bear but to remind yourself ‘you know nothing about ‘internet stuff’…or that “you’re not techy”, or “you’re not a sales person”…. and… that “your friends and family think you’re nuts” for even considering it… and besides… you “can’t afford to spend much” to get started.

So instead, you surf the net (cause that’s easy right?). You fill in forms to get free reports. You read some of them… but most of them sit and never get opened.

Why? Because you tune out after the first thing you read that doesn’t feel comfy and ‘easy peasy’…. And that’s about as far as you go… until of course, you phone me… and recite the above.

To be honest… It has a way of making my hair curl (can’t you tell?)… and I can’t help but think you’re getting exactly what you deserve.

I mean….Helloooow?

It’s my opinion that anyone who wants to start a business should get off their butt and get the show on the road and not worry about any of the ‘other stuff’. Getting started is the only thing you need to worry about right now.

Forget that you hear than only 3% succeed and 97% of businesses fail. So many people get hung up on those figures. I mean it might be a fact but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get your rear end in gear and join the 3% if that’s where you want to be and instead of soaking up the negativity, focus on the other side of the dotted line instead.

I guess though, that at the end of the day the choice is yours and nobody can force you out of your rut except you..

Still… the big questions remains… and that is: deep inside…are you serious about success or making changes…? Or do you just like the sound of your own voice?

If you are serious you’ll do what the rest of us do and get cracking! You’ll acknowledge that right now…you might not know anything about getting started (just like the rest of us when we started), BUT.. and it’s a big BUT…you’ll be ok with it… because you are committed to buckling down and learning a few skills that you’ll put into action and moving in the right direction! …..Right??

If life really sucks the say you say it does, isn’t this small commitment worth the effort? It’s really the choice between staying stuck or taking a step in the direction of change!

If you’re using the “I can’t afford it” excuse … wouldn’t you agree that perhaps it’s something you can’t afford NOT to do?? Particularly if, as you say there’s no work?

Although admittedly I am a proponent of investing in my business because I know I’ll get back more than I put in, I know many people have an aversion to spending a few dollars. To me the only two reasons for this is because they either should work on their belief system to overcome the fear or failure… or… they don’t want it badly enough.

If truth be told, I don’t think anyone ‘loves’ the sensation of pulling out their credit card BUT when you are making an investment into your knowledge or into something to move you forward… it’s always money well spent.

Now I’m not saying you have to spend much at all. The fact is, there are all sorts of solid low cost business opportunities on the internet. While some do require a larger investment than others… there are plenty that cost mere pennies per day that require a larger investment of time and effort than anything else.

For example, with the exception of perhaps of investing into a solid marketing course that can be picked up for less than a hundred bucks, I find affiliate marketing can be an awesome way to learn the ropes and it’s a business that can literally be run on about 40 cents per day. Seriously!
If you’re worried about what others think about your goals to start a business online… who cares? I mean seriously, if you’ve got a buddy or a family member who’s knocking you for spreading your wings, all you need to do is take one look at their situation. If they’re not living in a mansion on the hill and earning big bucks… and willing to show you how to do the same, then why on earth would you take their advice in the first place?

I know lack of knowledge can be stifling and make it difficult to ‘know’ how to proceed and even I have a couple of tasks I have yet to implement. The difference is, I will find the solution and do it… the question is will you?

You see, when I’m stuck, I ask for help or find the resources to get me though it and believe me… I’ve been stuck like glue on a number of occasions… but I’ll talk about that in another post.

The truth is however, the same opportunities are available for you too. You can always reach out… find a coach or mentor and/or do your own research to get your questions answered… but for heavens sake… at least make a start and get the ball rolling!

The deal is… anybody can succeed if they’re willing to shut up and actually DO something… and not talk themselves out of it before they get going.

I personally know many people who have been flat broke… ready to lose their home and just about everything in it… but because they had a deep desire, the just buckled down and DID something about it, instead of think of all the reasons they shouldn’t … eventually one thing lead to another and many of them are now making an income most only dream about.

Now, I will admit success does not always come overnight… but it will come a hell of a lot faster than it will if all you’re doing is sitting, thinking and making excuse… because as you might already know, that won’t do a blasted thing.

The best time to start a business online is right now. Period. With all the opportunities at our fingertips since the internet came into our lives… you’re just starting a gift horse in the mouth if you don’t partake in the blessing.

If you really want to create changes and need a hand getting started, contact me and lets yet the show on the road…. But only if you’re serious

In case you haven’t noticed I’m definitely blowing steam today… and yes there have been a couple of folk who have caused me to talk with my inside voice a little louder than I normally might. (They’ll know who they are if they read this post… and I’m all good with that).

If you relate to anything I’ve said why not get cracking and at least make a start today?

Like my coach says… “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going”… (Darn, how I wish I could claim that as my own) J

I’m not saying in any of this that there are any ‘guarantees’ in life… there aren’t for any of us, but there is one thing for sure and that is if you don’t get off your fanny and do something about making tracks, you just might be playing Farmville for the rest of our your life.

If your inside voice is saying you are serious about success… and you just need a little lift to get you going… contact me at any time.

The worse thing you can do is waste time… because that’s the one thing you can’t get back… and I’ll give you some examples in my next post on this.

Just remember, we all start a business with the same set of fears, questions and hesitation, but it’s breaking through that barrier that causes things to flow… just do one thing, then move onto the next… but taking action and getting the show on the road is the only way you’ll ever see results.

Wishing you a wake up call and the best that life has to offer!

Have you ever given any thought to the fact that just one thing can profoundly affect your life?

It’s true… and it’s something I’d like to discuss today.

Naturally, ‘the thing’ could be as different for all of us as are the results and consequences it brings about. If you’re unclear as to what’s running through my tiny mind… please allow me to explain! :

The one thing (sorry) … I’ve learned through coaching is that each and every one of us, at one time or another experiences something to shape our lives; sometimes “it” can ‘break us’… and set us on a slippery slope of hell… or it can ‘make us’.. and completely change our lives for the better… usually when we least expect it.

I’ve often heard people say that “one thing severely altered their life and totally set them back” … but I’ve also heard amazing stories as well… from from others who shared how “just one thing changed the course of their life in ways they would have never imagined”.

This morning I spoke with a lady who has struggled like mad to build her business… but finally had a breakthrough and feels so much better that she’s almost walking on air!

A few months ago however, she questioned her decision to become an entrepreneur in the first place and almost threw in the towel all together.

You see… entrepreneurialism is a new(ish) experience for her. In previous years, she was always very satisfied climbing the corporate ladder and working her high paying managerial job of 15 years.

Then, last year, her company downsized… and eliminated positions starting in higher management. Sadly, she was one of the first to go.

Naturally she was devastated and started frantically applying elsewhere.

As each interview came and went, and she learned she was not the successful candidate, she resented the fact that she had always been taught the only way to get ahead in life was to complete her education, get a good job… and after that she’d live happily ever after.

Obviously… that wasn’t the case for her so when she started her business venture… she was a little out of her comfort zone as she had never before considered “creating her own economy”.

She realized the way she was taught had indeed shaped her life… but certainly had not prepared her for her current set of circumstances.

As I was tidying up the ‘bedlum’ after dropping the kids off at school, I was thinking about her situation and the one thing in my own life that shaped me and set me worlds apart from her.

I thought back to when I was 14 years of age when my dad asked me to attend an ‘own your own business’ seminar here in Vancouver.

I can remember thinking: “What?? Own your own business seminar? Are you kidding me? I’m only 14!”

In any event, I went with him. As we drove in the car, he explained to me that being an entrepreneur and learning the skills to be self sufficient would be the one thing in life that could keep me afloat above anything else if I played my cards right.

He also shared that the world is our oyster and if we are willing to embrace it, the possibilities are endless.

That conversation was something that always stuck with me, formed my belief system, and helped me to see the world through rose coloured glasses…. and for that I am very grateful.

With that said, “one thing” can always knock you on your proverbial bottom too … when you least expect it!

As some of you may know already, when I was in my mid 30’s I built a successful offline business with my husband and life was awesome until our marriage failed and just about killed me in the process

After spending a good 8 months playing my violin, curled up in the fetal position, I thought back to my dad’s advice and decided to pull myself together and snap out of it and take control of life again.

I chose to search the internet for income earning solutions as well as a way to rebuild my self esteem. After kissing many toads I came across the business opportunity that set me on a whole new uplifting and fulfilling path.

Admittedly I encountered my share roadblocks and challenges, but eventually I found that with the right attitude that one thing leads to another… and it did… & thankfully the big wheel started turning.

Now you see, if I had decided to give up… or completely discount my own personal power, I would have never experienced some of the wonderful turning points and opportunities that presented themselves along the way.

I truly believe that for anybody can excel and create positive results regardless of their situation as long as they keep an open mind and don’t quit. It only takes ‘one thing’ to turn things around again… and you just never know what ‘it’ will be… and eventually ‘something’ will ‘just happen’ or come into their life and cause all the chips to fall into place.

This isn’t something I’ve only just thought about either….

Throughout life, I have heard many stories about people who in some cases, met someone new, out of the blue who helped them transform their life.

I’ve also heard of folks who found answers to their problems by reading a book, attending a seminar, or hearing a quote that affected them in a profound manner… enough to give them a light bulb moment to alter their own direction and cause them to make incredible changes for the better.

It also could be just finding ‘something’ that works for you… by stepping out of the dotted line and taking a chance on something unusual.

Since running this blog I have also met many people who have struggled in life due to carrying baggage that should have been ‘put down’ years ago.

Funnily I have a handful of ridiculously popular posts that I wrote some time ago pertaining to holding grudges, forgiving others, self forgiveness and embracing the power of apology.

On more than one occasion I’ve been told that ‘something’ within these posts has struck a cord that has caused them to take the step to reach out and patch things up with others, or has helped them deal with, or get the help to deal with their own emotions.

Sounds crazy doesn’t it …that people (and I’ve been there) sometimes just need to hear, read, or see ‘one thing’ that can be the answer … or just what they need to set them free?

These are just a few examples of my own… but I’m sure you’ve likely heard people say:

“Oh if I could just deal with this ‘one thing’ I’d be happy” or “there’s just one thing that holds me back from feeling stress free”… etc, etc, etc,

So you see, sometimes in life… something simple can set you on a road to freedom, personally, financially or otherwise… it’s just a matter to of ‘knowing’ believing and keeping going that has a way of making things work out.

Bear in mind however, that whatever you are struggling with… whether it is growing a business or just living a fulfilling life… things do work differently for some that they do for others

My advice is always to remember to keep your chin up.… and even if you fall and occasionally fear failure… just know that eventually with the right attitude and the tenacity to keep on trucking… you can succeed.

More often than not, you will run across one amazing thing that will lift you up and put the wind beneath your wings to take you to a place in your life that you may have never thought possible.

I sincerely hope this post might be the one thing that may lift you and help you to remain open to YOUR own possibilities and value if you felt to be lagging.

Can you share ‘one amazing thing’ that helped you make positive life changes?

Have you ever given thought to the fact that the key to success is based on the decisions you make?

The problem is, most people don’t achieve success is because they haven’t decided exactly ‘what’ it is they want!

Can you believe it? Well… believe it or not… it is the truth!!

If I had a nickel for the number of people who have told me they want more out of life and wish to make some changes for the better… yet don’t know ‘what’ they they want specifically… I’d be fully retired <del>and writing this post from the Caribbean</del>. No wait… I wouldn’t be writing this post at all.

The first key to success… is always deciding what you want.

… after all, how can you aim for something… if you’re not sure what the target is??

You really do need to get very clear:

Do you want to earn more money? A happier relationship? Do you want more confidence? Do you want to be an entrepreneur? Do you want more time to travel? A new house? etc., etc., etc….

What is it? If you feel you want something… you have to identify to the letter what the heck it is and whilst I realize it might take some time to get focused and iron out all the fine details… it’ll be well worth your time in the long run.

Spend some time here and focus on what your ideal life would look like…and what it will take to make it happen and then write it down in detail… then let us know!

After you have decided ‘what’ you want in life you’ll automatically feel more serious about success… (whatever that might mean to you). The second step is to spend some time determining what you will need to do to make it happen.

Will you need to work longer hours? Do you need a coach? Do you need to find another job? Do you need to step on the wild side and start your own business?

Then decide on the “how “

Will you ask the boss for more hours? Plan some strategies with a life coach… or by yourself? Quit your job to go on interviews? Learn new skills to start your own business? Get a second job to buy that house?

Decide exactly what it will take!

Once you have determined the necessary steps, the third decision you will have to make is to get off your backside and do something about it! You will have to be determined that come hell or high water, you will do whatever you need to do to get through that list of steps no matter what!!

Thinking about making life changes or ‘wondering’ what the key to success is… isn’t going to do a blasted thing except cause you to focus on what you don’t have and keep you wishing for the vision you have in your minds eye. (Which by the way should be crystal clear now because you’ve spent the time hammering it down and mapping it out!)

If you don’t make these critical decisions you’ll be doing the same thing as you always have, yet expecting different results. The reality is you’ll just be stuck in the same boat throughout your life …and we all know you can do much better than that! Right??

You know, I have a saying… that I picked up from my high school teacher … and it’s something that has stayed with me. That saying is: “we all come into the world the same way, we’re all going out the same way… while were here, we need to make the best of it…. and we all have the option”.

If you’re looking to achieve anything, it’s has to start with making the right decisions to change your current circumstances… and finding ways to make dreams come to fruition. After all, one decision can change your life.

After you’ve become clear on your goals and planned the necessary steps to achieve them, don’t forget that nothing happens if you don’t take action. After all action is an integral key to success… regardless of what ‘success’ means to you!

Is there anything you’ve been wanted to change for the better yet haven’t taken the time to properly pin it down? If so I hope this short and simple post struck a cord… after all it’s the same for everyone no matter who you are.

If you need help ‘deciding’ on the changes you want to make and need help mapping out the necessary steps…contact me at any time. It’s one of the things in life I love the help with.

Just remember the key to success… no matter what it means to you … really is all based on making decisions. That key by the way fits every door on the planet!

As some of you may or may not know, I own a few affiliate marketing niche sites as I feel it’s an super way to earn a few additional streams of income in conjunction with my personal development and coaching business.

Up until about a year ago however, I had never really focused on affiliate marketing much at all, although I’ll be the first to admit I enjoyed earning commissions occasionally by recommending the odd product here and there but that was as far as I went.

It wasn’t until I wrote an article a while back where I happened to make a casual suggestion based on my positive impression of a product I use… and earned a big fat commission… well a few of them to be honest.

This, as you can likely appreciate caught my attention!

I thought, if I can earn commissions… by not even ‘meaning to’… just think of the untapped possibilities that lay before me if I focus more seriously on affiliate marketing and try my hand at building up a couple of niche sites.

Now as a caveat … that’s not always the way it goes… the flood gates don’t always open like that, much to my chagrin! but that’s a whole different post.

Now, I already knew how affiliate marketing worked but I was interested in learning some of the really effective way of building a few additional little income streams on the side and wanted some pointers to improve from someone I knew I could trust.

I decided to dig a little deeper into this affiliate marketing business model and turned to a fellow I admire and whose list I’ve been on for a number of years. His name is Matt Carter.

Matt has been an affiliate marketer for quite some time now and currently earns a ‘more than full time’ income doing what he does best! That is of course, affiliate marketing!

Matt also created an affiliate marketing course early last year and because I admire his integrity and down to earth nature the way I do, I jumped on board and purchased it immediately. There was no question in my mind as to the value it would provide and to be honest it was likely one of the best little courses I have ever clapped eyes on.

I mean if truth be told, I have purchased in the thousands of dollars of courses over the years… enough to fill a small library (believe me). Some good, some bad… and some well… let s not even go there.

Since following Matt’s instruction … almost to the letter, I have done quite well to be honest. I still could use a little improvement here and there, but since the affiliate marketing has been more or less a side line for me, I have to say I’ve very pleased with the results I’ve gleaned this far.

Now, I did write a post last year about his course …the post is titled Two Awesome Affiliate Marketing Courses you can read it if the mood swings you.

To this day, I stand by everything I shared in that post… the two courses I recommend I also own, and have to say they are worth every penny. (Which by the way they are ridiculously affordable)

Well, the reason I’m writing once again about Matt Carter and Rapid Profit Formula isn’t at all to ‘flog’ his course but more to share with you how awesome Matt really is and give credit to a very decent human… where it’s due.

I am so impressed with this young fella and to be honest I truly feel that anyone who wants to learn from someone who has a good solid head on his shoulders and doesn’t beat around the bush… he’s your man.

You see, Matt has already done quite very well with his product Rapid Profit Formula. He has earned many positive reviews and the product has rightfully gained well deserved recognition.

Now here’s the thing that blows me away though: As many of us who are already in this internet marketing industry know, there have been a few significant changes with Google this year which has caused many of us to make a few changes in the way of our marketing efforts.

Well, because Matt is always at the top of his game, he stays up to date with the “wave”… and does an excellent job of explaining some of these necessary changes to his readers.

The part I just couldn’t wait to share with you (wouldn’t feel right if I didn’t) was that Matt, instead of creating a new product to outline these changes (which he could have very easily done… and done quite well with at that), has instead re-created over 80 percent of the Rapid Profit formula course to take into account the recent changes and apply to the here and now.

What’s more this is like a free upgrade so to speak. Those of us who own RPF already, automatically benefit from his upgrade… without upgrading or having to fork out any additional funds to learn the new information.

How many guys would do that? I mean seriously??

He has more or less, re-written the course (so to speak) at no cost to those who already own it.

I personally, don’t know anyone who would do that for their customers and I do know a few internet marketing “gurus” in their own right.

Most people would have created a ‘new and improved’ Rapid Profit Formula… or “Rapid Profit formula 2″… but not Matt. No Siree, he went and created new content and replaced the old just because that’s the way he rolls.

I really feel that anyone who is interested in Affiliate Marketing and would like the help of someone who truly knows the industry, cares about his customers, is no BS and bursting with integrity, not to mention teaches nothing but sheer value, Matt Carter is definitely that person.

As far as Rapid Profit Formula goes, it is the one course I refer to over and over again and for the price tag, you just can’t beat it.

Like anything you wish to master, you do have actually do the work and do the tasks he teaches… but he’ll be the first to spell that out to you. If you’re interested in learning about affiliate marketing and you want to learn from the best, Matt is your guy hands down!

I truly believe that if you are a ‘leader’ and create your own products, it would be a wise move to take a leaf out of Matt’s book and look after your customers in the same way. It’s something that will come back and pay you in spades down the road and do wonders for your reputation.

In my last post I spoke about the necessity to feel better and a few easy to implement tips to improve your physical well being and staying healthy to the best of your ability.

While this is a bit of an ‘unusual post for me’… not so much related to personal development… but more to protecting your health.

You see, today, I’d like to ‘discuss’ a few potential environmental health concerns I feel we should all take a little more seriously than some of us do.

Now, what I’m throwing out there today is only my opinion. I’m not a doctor and I don’t have any medical training… but I have always been a deep thinker…and tried to use a bit of common sense, even more so since one of my very good friends passed away a year ago in January.

As mentioned in my last post, there are simple adjustments to our routine that can be made to make the world of difference to our overall well being and help us to feel better and increase energy, etc.

With that said, even though my suggestions on my last post are in my opinion, habits we should all implement, there are still other things we all face in the way of environmental bombardments. Many of these are not all that easy to dodge… unless we moved to a mountain top somewhere far away from the rest of the world.

Even though we may never be able to avoid some of the challenges our immune systems face these days, I feel the following items should be something we all need to think about more often and should try our best to circumvent when we can:

Food:

Our food sources in our day and age are utterly pathetic. Produce is more often than not, sprayed with pesticides, herbicides and not to mention grown with fertilizers and other chemicals.

To me, it’s a pretty scary to think of all the ‘chemicals’ we ingest on a daily basis. I’d like to suggest that whenever possible; make organic selections… even though you’ll often hear some say ‘there is no difference.

In any event, even if you don’t go totally organic… at least always wash your produce the best you can and eat as close to “fresh” and as clean as possible.

When it comes to canned foods… try to limit your intake. If it’s not bad enough the food itself is often laden with preservatives, I recently heard the coating on the cans contains the Bisphenol A (BPA) – a chemical to harden and cause the lining/coating on the tin to dry quickly before they fill it with food.

These BPA’s are the chemicals we are also warned about contained in plastic bottles.

I’m not sure if you’ve every heard that you should never drink bottled water if it’s been in a car or exposed to heat. In fact, they also say you shouldn’t drink water that has been stored in these bottles for a long time either. The reason is that plastic contains this chemical (BPA) which is known to cause cancer and other ailments and it is said to leech out over time into the water… or even pop and juice.

Always, always… if purchasing water in plastic bottles, make sure it’s labelled “BPA Free”… even then… I choose stainless steel containers for my kids to take to school. I think we should all try to avoid plastic when we can, no matter what it’s labelled.

Packaged Foods:

If you must eat packaged foods, at least read the labels. (That is if you must buy them at all) If you do… do it in moderation.

I’ve already mentioned in my last post that due to our busy schedules ‘convenience’ can play a huge part in our food choices… but I’d think twice in most cases. I just think there are so many ‘things’ in these packaged foods that are so synthetic… it makes my head spin.

I always like to go by the rule that if I can barely pronounce the name of the ingredients… or don’t know what ‘it’ is… I’m not about to eat it.

To me, packaged foods are just not healthy… same as many prepared foods. I don’t know about you, but I just feel food is supposed to ‘go bad’ after a short period of time. Food that stays fresh looking month after month just isn’t something I want to consume. I shudder to think of all the preservatives it contains. There’s just something wrong with that picture!

I’m of the impression that the food industry is fairly lax in some areas and get away with ‘filling’ our consumables with things we don’t deserve and that so many things in our food have no business being there in the first place.

Meat and Dairy:

Same with Dairy or Meat products. So much of our meat has been injected by antibiotics to prevent the cattle/poultry from picking up disease. The problem is that we are ingesting these antibiotics, hence making our own systems less responsive to our antibiotics … if or when we need them.

In my opinion, this is half the reason we can’t fight some strains of illnesses faced by our race these days… or it’s becoming more difficult.

Another concern is the hormones our poultry/cattle are injected with in order to make them grow unnaturally fast… and unnaturally fat. I’m of the opinion that nothing should grow to more than full size in six months or less… no matter what it is!

Again we’re all ingesting these hormones and I’m quite sure that’s part of the reason we see larger kids these days and so many overly developed young girls.

EMF

Have you ever thought about EMF’s? (Electro Magnetic Frequencies)

Here’s an area of concern I’ve ALWAYS thought about. Yet I’m still a little hypocritical as well. We have so many Electro Magnetic Frequencies / Radio Frequencies going through us all day long… it’s enough to make your head spin.

These frequencies are shooting out of all our electronics and I’m sure it does us no good whatsoever and it’s something I’ve always been sensitive to.

For example: I have never been overly comfortable using a Cell phone for any length of time.

I used to work for a company who provided cell phones for the sales reps. (this is back in the day they were as huge as bricks… in the early ‘80’s).

To be honest, I always felt ‘different’ on a cell. It’s almost like I could feel the electro magnetic affects and felt ‘fuzzy’. I used to tell my manager I hated being on the cell… but more often than not it was sloughed off as being ‘all in my mind’.

I’ve never thought so… and even today, if I’m on a cell phone for any longer than 5 minutes, which isn’t often, I start to feel slightly hoarse.

I shudder to think the exposure so many people have on a daily basis. They practically rely on their cell phone for everything.

I would strongly suggest that if you are one of these people… never, never sleep with your cell phone under your pillow or by your head. Some people use them as their “alarm clock”… I say, get an alarm clock and turn your cell off for the night. (just my two bits).

With regards to EMF’s or Radio Frequencies: Have you ever thought about WIFI?

Now this is where I’m <del>slightly</del> … no let’s say more than slightly hypocritical. I use WIFI… BUT… I’m not crazy about it to be honest.

The truth is, we have WIFI signals going through us all day long, along with all the other radio frequencies from cell phone towers, radiation from our electronics, etc. To me, it’s just gross!

**I once heard that if all the different signals were made of solid color, we wouldn’t be able to see a foot in front of us.

I totally buy into this!

When I work on my computer, I’ve started turning the WIFI off while I type my posts, or work on projects, etc., that don’t require direct access to the internet. I see no sense in having that signal actively and immediately in front of me or going through me while I type.

This isn’t saying I don’t have the WIFI from my neighbours infiltrating my home. I do. That’s just it! You can never get away from it. Whenever I log on to my network, I see all my neighbours’ wireless networks as well… right in my house on my computer screen!

Then there’s Smart Meters. Recently in BC, BC Hydro has started switching all the analog Electric Meters to Wireless. These meters supposedly send a wireless signal to BC Hydro throughout the day reporting your electrical usage.

Some people are absolutely up in arms about it. I have to say I’m not thrilled either to be honest… it’s just one more thing we have to contend with.

I know also that many of these people who are so opposed to this are likely on Wireless Networks themselves. Some of them might be screaming for the sake of it… even though I concur, it kind of sucks to involuntarily have one more environmental challenge attached right to the side or our homes and we don’t have a cotton picking say in it.

EMF’s and Children:

What about all these WII games, PS’s and Xbox games the kids play with these days too? Here again, my kids have all that stuff… but I’m severely limiting their time as some of these games use the kids as a blasted “antenna”… for crying out loud.

Urrggh… does the human race have no sense anymore?

What about all these Government Agencies who are supposed to be working on our behalf… like Health Canada for example? (Not sure what the agencies are in other part of the globe.), but to me, I’m just not sure if any of us can allow them to tell us what’s harmful and what isn’t or put our trust in them entirely.

I truly believe that much of what we’re told about (what is safe and what isn’t) can be tossed directly out of the window.

Same with all the different approved prescription drugs so many people are eating like candy. All prescribed from Doctors?

I truly believe than half of them should be abolished and more natural medications should be considered instead.

Of course regular practitioners are NOT “allowed” to share “natural remedies’…for fear of losing their licences.

Why?

Because of all the Pharmaceutical companies calling the shots and having too much power over our health care systems… and being in cahoots with the governments.

Lets face it, pharmaceutical companies don’t make money if we’re all healthy… they only make money due to illness. Think about it.

I’m not saying “don’t listen to your doctor”… not at all. I always recommend listening to your doctor but definitely, do your own research if you are prescribed something you’re just not sure about.

I do believe there have been some miraculous breakthroughs and medicines that have healed millions and definitely been a blessing to the human race. With that said, there are also so many drugs that in my opinion do nothing to “heal” these days and that much of the industry is based on greed with no genuine concern for health at all.

Sorry… I did digress there for a moment… but I really feel strongly about the fact that we need to be aware. I’m not saying off the wall aware… or letting these thoughts scare us to death… but I do think we have to take responsibility and educate ourselves so we can protect our health to feel well and have a healthy existence.

To me… we live in a time where we have so many environmental health hazards flying at us each and every day that we just complacently live with and ‘trust’ they are ok …when they’re not.

To be honest, if I thought about it too much I’d be curled up in a corner talking to myself and the men in the white coats would have to come and take me away. Seriously!

Back to EMF’s. (Electro Magnetic Frequencies)

Regarding these EMF and all the various Radio Frequencies that are shooting through our bodies each and every day… many are believed to interfere with proper cell formation… and some even linked to childhood leukemia… what the hell do you do about it?

Well, here’s what I’m doing to attempt to protect our health… right, wrong or indifferent.

I am limiting my WIFI and turn it off when I don’t need it. I am also planning to get all the rooms where we spend time on our computers in, fitted with wall outlets so we can plug our laptops directly into the wall, rather than using the Wireless. This has a cost attached to it, and I’m starting to gather some quotes.

This isn’t to say were not still exposed to EMF’s by merely being around all the electrical components such as computers, TV’s Microwave Ovens, etc… but I figure anything I can do to reduce the possible affects in my home… I’m seriously looking into and doing it.

I have also recently purchased a device that is supposed to shield some of these harmful EMF’s. I purchased a Nimbus device that is meant to protect the household and keep the circuits grounded, hence protecting us fro the circuitry and household appliances.

I also wear a necklace as do my kids that are meant to shield your body even when you’re in the way or in the midst of the EMF fields.

There are a variety of products meant for protecting ourselves against EMF/RF’s. Ones for cell phones, households, etc…. I just figured it’s all worth a try… and I don’t mind doing so.

My husband hasn’t bought into it 100%… but that’s just him. He wears his but isn’t really as concerned about the same things I am. He’s used a cell phone since the early 80’s and had one of the first of those great big ones on his commercial fishing boat. He’ll likely grow a second head out of the side of his neck one of these days due to the amount of sheer exposure he’s had over the years. No wonder he’s always battled headaches. (Did I say that with my outside voice?)

In any event, some people have concerns, some don’t.

I am one of those people who is concerned and while I don’t spend my time ‘worrying about everything” I just figure, based on endless research that if there is anything I can do to protect my family (my beautiful kids particularly)… I’m doing it. Period.

I mean lets face it; the kids are surrounded in WIFI all day at school these days too. Not to mention just about every second child has an iPod or some electronic device that can access the internet wirelessly.

I know I can’t stop this activity… unless the whole world does away with it all… but I do at least feel I’m doing what I can … and at the end of the day I’ll always know I’ve done my best with the right interests at heart.

Just to let you know too, I have spent hours upon hours reading about all this stuff… and there are definitely ‘nay-sayers’ and ‘yea-sayers’ and both bring up some very solid points.

Again, I just do what I can ….even though I can’t test for all of these things… there comes a time where you make a choice.

Let’s talk about Microwave Ovens.

I have always had one. In fact my parents bought one when I was in Grade 6. They were brand new and almost the size of a house at that time.

I won’t say I’ve used it for cooking on a continuous basis but I have used it to re heat and cook vegetables, fairly regularly in the past.

It was about a year ago when my dear friend Dan passed that he pointed out the home truths about microwave ovens.

I have always known how microwaves work… but never really thought about it. They shake the molecules up at such warp speeds that they become hot. Urrgh! just think about it… this is radiation people… cooking our food with radiation… and we’re eating it! What the heck …?

I rarely use my microwave now… and am working towards tossing it all together. It’s an adjustment and a new habit… but it makes no sense to look at it with suspecting eyes and cringe at the thoughts of using it. Better to toss it all together. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it.

Finally: Our Tap Water Supply. Is it safe?

Well, I’ve been drinking mineralized alkaline water now for quite a while.

We stopped drinking tap water a long time ago due to the fact that I don’t believe our municipal household water supplies are safe. They are so infiltrated with Chlorines, Bromines, Fluoride and goodness knows what else.

I realized the Water Treatment Plants have to do something to provide potable water to our households…and kill off bacteria… but good grief… when you stop to think about it… we don’t need to be ingesting that stuff into our system.

All these chemicals get stored in our cells and don’t do us a scrap of good.

Now of course we can drink purified water… and that’s just fine.

The thing is purified water, while it does have all the chemicals filtered out… it also has all the natural trace minerals filtered so we are merely drinking ‘wet’… and that’s about it.

And as I’ve already mentioned, the plastic bottles that most purified water is distributed in… also contains things we don’t need to be absorbing.

To do the best I can do in the ‘water department’ I purchased an alkaline water system. Mine is just a little countertop water gravity system about the same size as a big blue bottle can sit anywhere at all.

It doesn’t run off electricity, hence no need for a wall outlet so it literally can be placed anywhere or even on the base of a regular water cooler. Mine is actually on the fireplace in the kitchen.

Surprisingly it actually costs less than having a regular run of the mill purified water dispenser as I don’t need to purchase purified water bottles (Big Blue Jugs) each week as I did before… and the machine itself costs no more than regular water dispensers either.

I pour tap water in the top reservoir, … it gets filtered and then goes through a series of different natural rocks and minerals to replenish the magnesium’s, calcium’s, zinc, etc… the all the trace minerals we lack these days.

Because it’s room temperature and alkaline, it gets absorbed into the system faster and more efficiently and flushes our systems more effectively to clean us out.

I believe that many of the cancers and horrible diseases we face these days is because the toxins we ingest from food sources, beverages, etc. pollute our bodies and get stored in our weakest links… i.e. cells in various locations and don’t get flushed through the way they should.

I’m of the firm opinion that if we can keep our systems clean and flushed we can avoid many of these illnesses.

While some of you may just think all of this is just ‘hogwash’… (That’s ok)… I know I’m doing the best I can to protect my family… and apart from that there’s really not much more any of us can do.

This whole post was written based on the fact that my last post about ‘feeling well and feeling good’ is absolutely necessary to ‘think well’ and have the energy to progress in life.

While in that post I made many suggestions, I just thought it was important to perhaps get you to think outside the box and look at some of the other reasons we all feel more run down these days… which are these environmental health risks that many people never think about.

Sometime it takes someone to point these things out to make you think “oh… yes… never thought about that’….

My purpose isn’t to be a crazy woman or be an off the wall scare monger and worry you… but just to share a couple of ideas with you (that are solely my opinion) to give you the option of thinking on a deeper level when it comes to protecting your own health and the health of your family.

I know people who have made some of these simple tweaks and felt 100% better. I’m one of them.

I think we all need to take the responsibility for your health these days and do what we can… because the sad truth is, nobody else will.

After all, as already said, it’s my opinion that the pharmaceutical companies don’t get rich if everyone is feeling well… they only get rich when people are sick… think about it!

Here are a few tips that helped me turn life around and get back on track … better than ever before.

Today I’ll share a paramount necessity to turning life around so you can feel good or at least feel better about life in order to create changes to get more of the things you want… and less of what you don’t want!

Feeling well is essential for personal improvement and happiness, particularly if you feel you’ve “hit bottom” and are totally down in the dumps.

..In my last two posts I spoke about the Law of Attraction and the fact it exists and is always at work in your life (one way or the other) whether you like it, embrace it, accept it, … or not!

I also shared a post outlining a few examples of how it’s always worked in my life, even though I didn’t realize or pay attention to it at the time.

Today, however, I’m not rattling on about the LOA specifically, but more I’d like to share that I believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt that when it comes down to the nitty gritty, everything in my life has always been a direct result as to how I “felt” during the times I experienced landmark events.

Now bear in mind, we don’t have to call ‘the reason things happen” the “Law of Attraction” if you don’t want to…… that’s just an overused; over hyped phrase that has been hammered to death these last few years and created a bit of a “woo hoo” stigma in some cases, taking away from the common sense of what it really is.

The point is, regardless of what you want to call it, in order to turn life around and make changes for the better, we have to do something about it and ‘be involved’, and at the end of the day our performance always boils down to how we feel… which ultimately results in what we do… or don’t do..

Today I’m referring to feeling good or at least feeling better about life and making ‘positive progress’ to make life changes that are within our control.

I do not want you to confuse this with things that are not within our control… (I.e. losing a loved one or losing employment, etc.).

It’s just that I firmly believe that when it comes to achieving personal abundance, fulfillment and leading a better life, etc., we all have the power to make it happen (if we truly want to), and that everything we have to this point is many a time a result of something we have done, or not done to this point… good or bad.

For example, if you’re currently in a situation, where you: hate your job, you’re flat broke, miserably unhappy with your career or personal life, you need to start feeling better “physically” first and foremost before you can take any steps in the right direction.

Feeling well is absolutely imperative in order to feel good mentally. Feeling good mentally is the only way you’ll ever be able to recognize or even ‘think’ about the fact you have the power and ability to make life changes.

You see, today, we live in a time where there is a plethora of opportunities for improvement but the problem is, if we don’t have the energy to see them, let alone take action, we’ll just keep getting the same as we’ve always gotten and it becomes no different than being on the same treadmill, year in, year out.

Why We Don’t Always Feel Well:

The challenge however is, in this day and age it’s not always easy to feel good physically or at least as good as we should.

We humans have a lot to contend with: We live in a fast paced world where stress is at an all time high. We run around like a “farts in wind tunnels” and have less time to just ‘chill out’ that ever before.

Because of this, many of us don’t eat as well as we should, sleep as well as we should and down time and work-life-balance is a thing of the past for many of us and this has a way of leaving us sluggish and exhausted.

Time issues aside, we also have environmental battles to weaken us further. Some you may have never thought about or considered some of them, but the end result is, many of us live with weakened immune systems and are not nearly as healthy as we used to be when things were simpler and less complicated.

These environmental issues affect many areas of life and if truth be told is a topic in itself. Because I could easily get carried away and veer off track, I’ll write about these separately in my next post <del>and when I do</del>, (It’s up now – take a look) I will be asking for your input and points of view.

For now though, I’ll focus on this post and the point I’m making which is the fact that when we don’t feel good, or feel as well as we should, we’re often run down and sometimes plain tired out which results feeling ‘flat’, unenthusiastic and horribly lethargic.

When in this mode, it’s pretty tough to see the bright side and put out the right vibrations to even begin attracting the right stuff no matter how much we want to chunter on about the LOA.

Before I Managed to Turn Life Around:

I know when hit my lowest point in life, I just couldn’t see the positives. My outlook and mindset was such that I couldn’t even grasp enough common sense to begin putting forth the effort (let alone energy) into attempting to save my marriage when it went down the proverbial ‘swanny’.

To be honest, I was so worn out and sluggish, I felt to be pulling a grand piano uphill all day, every day and I’m darn sure it showed to anyone and everyone with whom I came in contact.

When I made the decision to sell my half of the family business to stay home with the kids, instead of being elated as I should have been, it took every last drop of energy I had to simply get through each day. I wasn’t well enough to see the bright side or show any kind of gratitude for the opportunity…and my ability to recognize the fact I had options to create changes was so far off my radar it wasn’t even funny due to sheer exhaustion and anxiety.

It wasn’t until I became so thoroughly sick and tired of being sick and tired, I paid attention to how unhealthy and energy less I really was. This light bulb moment allowed me to see the correlation between my mind, body and spirit and ultimately forced me to decide that come hell or high water, I had to find the energy to actually do something about it.

Well… now that I’ve beaten this long winded “introduction” to death… I’ll get on with it and share with you a few of the changes I made that made me feel good about life again and ultimately helped me make the right choices to create a new and exciting existence.

Great ways to Feel Good & Feel Better:

1) Start to eat more regularly… and correctly. I made a point to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner every day even though I didn’t always feel like it).

Because of my ‘depression’ I’d got into the bad habit of just nibbling…usually on something ‘unbalanced’ and that took little effort to ‘throw together.

Problem is, if you don’t nourish your body and maintain it properly, you’re going to feel energy less and have no motivation to do anything… let alone maintain a positive outlook!

2) I paid closer attention to WHAT I ate too. I made healthier choices and paid more attention to my selections in the way of fresh produce, meats, grains, etc. Making good food choices and being selective is paramount these days and one of those ‘environmental’ topics I’ll talk about in my next post.

I think it’s worth mentioning I’m not a ‘health nut’ but as a rule I’m not an ‘unhealthy eater’ either and I have always provided a well balanced, healthy diet for my kids. At the time I was struggling emotionally however, I, along with most people in the same boat, didn’t put a lot of effort into my own intake.

With that said, sometimes even if you’re not ‘down in the dumps’… just simply due to a busy life, diet can often take the back burner and instant packaged/canned foods or fast food becomes ‘over convenient’ and sometimes even a way of life. (Not a good thing!)

3) I started to get more rest. To be honest, I’ve never had a problem actually “sleeping” apart from the very occasional ‘odd’ bout of insomnia, but I made extra effort to get to bed at a decent hour.

So many of us to burn the candle at both ends. Sometimes it’s because we have so much to accomplish each day and want to make use of every minute; other times it’s just to savour a little ‘peace and quiet’ when our kids are in bed. Problem is it never does us any good.

A good night’s sleep is one of the best remedies for feeling well. Sleep gives your body time to heal and rejuvenate and my grandma always said that every hour you can get to bed before midnight is worth double.

I hate to admit, I still battle with getting to bed on time … but I’ll be the first to say how much brighter and resourceful I am when I behave.

4) Take a good Multi Vitamin. I started taking a good multi vitamin every day as well as fish oil capsules and iron. I’m not giving any medical advice here… but it’s so important these days to take a good supplement and I doubt any doctor would argue that. With the way our food supply is these days, you can rarely count on getting everything you need from food alone.

5) Drink water… and lots of it. 95% of the population is dehydrated and don’t realize it. We need a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day… and I’m not talking about juice, tea, coffee, either. I’m referring to clean pure water.

I will admit that I never was a huge water lover, but when you force yourself to get into the habit of drinking it regularly throughout the day, you get used to it and integrate it into your regular routine; you can’t help but notice how much better you feel.

Earlier last year, I started drinking alkaline water too. The reason I switched from purified is because alkaline water is better absorbed by body hence flushes any acidosis caused by the food we eat, beverages, stress, etc…and balances the bodies natural pH. I only wish I’d have subscribed to Alkaline much sooner as we have all noticed a tremendous difference in energy and performance.

6) Listen to something uplifting every single day, such as personal development or motivational tapes to increase your outlook, not to mention your vibration.

When I started to feel better due to my new habits, I began to ‘think’ better and had a much brighter outlook. Listening to positive information boosted my motivation and it was around this time my new found ambition lead me to discover my personal development program / business opportunity that lead me down this particular entrepreneurial path.

I listened to the CD’s (that are part of the program) every day while doing housework…or even while in bed and it was (and still is) a great way to ‘get your motor running!

It’s a heck of a lot better for you than listening to all the doom and gloom the ‘news’ broadcasts into our lives each day.

7) I started reading positive and empowering books as well. Many were self growth topics on the power of positive thinking etc., but they made me feel so good!

While you may not choose the same types of books as me, I would simply suggest you read something that lifts your spirits, is relaxing and brings personal satisfaction & enjoyment.

8) I made sure I got outside in the fresh air for a minimum of 30-60 minutes each day, longer when I had the opportunity. It didn’t matter if I was taking my children for a walk to the park, or just walking around the block. Getting some air puts the pink in your cheeks and you feel better for it.

9) I started to go out a more often to socialize with my friends as during the time I felt down in the dumps, I more or less became a recluse.

Getting a change of scene and going for a nice dinner and a good laugh with others is very good for the soul.

Laughter really is the best medicine.

10 ) It’s a beautiful thing when you regain your physical and mental energy. I found I felt more like setting goals and looking ahead to the future instead of moping.

When you’re starting to come alive again, it’s a good time to make a list of what your “ideal life” would look like. Dig down and determine the ways you can make changes to create your own life by design.

Write these ideas down the old fashioned way…with pen and paper. There is something about writing it down that makes it real and makes it stick.

Take your time and really dig to the core of what you really want… and don’t worry if you feel the goals are far fetched. Think BIG. You’ll start to see all sorts of opportunities and you’ll feel to have more control of life and see the possibilities that lay before you.

11) Be kind to yourself and learn to recognize your own value. With an increased energy level you’ll also improve your self esteem which is key to being happy.

We are all unique individuals and all possess value and unique talents. We all have something we can use to help both ourselves as well as help others create positive life changes. We just have to take the time to find our own purpose.

Never be afraid of walking to the beat of your own drum either. You’re ok the way you are.

While I do believe it’s great to learn from others and take advice, it’s also ok to listen to yourself and follow your own heart and intuition. (This is a topic I’m also looking forward to writing about in a future post).

Wrappin’ It Up:

Feeling good as a whole will rub off to your mental well being as well. The longer you maintain a positive attitude consistently; you’ll develop a stronger mindset and put out the positive energy to everyone around you and attract more of the “right stuff” into your life.

If you’re feeling less than satisfied with life, yet too lethargic to create any changes, take my word for it.

If you feel like crap, you’ll think like crap… you’ll often look like crap and you’ll reap nothing but crap!!

Maybe I should have said this right off the bat and the post would have been done!

If any of this post resonates with the way you feel, there is nothing I’ve shared here that is difficult to implement. In fact, these simple habits are almost effortless and a small price to pay for how great you’ll feel after a couple of weeks. Contact me if you need a hand.

This is the advice I share with both clients and friends alike and I’ve had some wonderful feedback, even though what I’ve written about isn’t rocket science. Sometimes you just need to ‘hear’ it for the penny to drop.

Take responsibility and start today and you will feel better not only inside, but it’ll show on the outside and you’ll find you’ll have more energy in body mind and spirit.

What do you think?? Have you noticed the correlation between your own physical well being and mental outlook? Please share your thoughts and any other ideas below.

In my last post “The Law of Attraction is Working For You – Like it or Not”, I promised to share a few occurrences in my own life… the good, bad and plain ugly!

I, like many people, have experienced a series of “up’s and downs” and when I look back now, its plain to see the only reason any of them materialized is because I attracted it.

Oh, yes… I know you’re likely at this point rolling your eyes and thinking “oh here she goes with the Law of Attraction stuff again”.

If this is the case, I’m hoping you will just bear with me so I can explain.

First of all, I’m not an “off the wall” person who spends my time tiptoeing through the tulips singing the praises of the Universal Laws, in fact many people I meet don’t hear anything about my ‘personal development business’ or my belief systems… that is unless of course they ask.

To be honest with you, over the years I have spent most of my life just living, and running my offline business… that is of course until I sold my shares to come home and stay with my children.

I will admit up front however, that in my younger days particularly I was incredibly successful. It just seemed (well, actually it didn’t seem”.. it was) that anything I set my mind to, no matter how ‘out there’ the idea may have been, it just worked. (And worked well!).

I tend to believe, however that as life goes on and as we are exposed to more and more new experiences, and at one time or another, each and every one of us might encounter something that sends us for a loop and might even bring us to our knees.

I believe that due to a few experiences that dampened my moral… the “Midas Touch” I used to have became less prevalent in my life… and there is a reason for that.

You see, back in the good old days, I just thought I was incredibly blessed … and maybe even lucky. Now of course, because I understand beyond a shadow of a doubt that my attitude had more to do with my successes than my smarts or capabilities… it all makes perfect sense.

Here are a few examples of the things I accomplished (some at a very young age that left others ‘gob-smacked”). As I lead you through, you’ll begin to see the decline in my ‘luck’ (so to speak) and you might even be able to see why… but you’ll also see how I was able to turn things around to get me to where I am today which is very content with life.

As a youngster, (and I’m talking 13 years old) my dad encouraged me to dream big. He told me that I could accomplish anything …and that the best way to do this was subscribe to being a “free enterpriser” and having a positive attitude.

My dad also told me that anything was possible and I could BE whatever I wanted. He took me to an ‘own your own business’ seminar that was held here in Vancouver, BC. When down at this event, I spotted a little tiny press that printed ‘prestige business cards’. It really caught my eye.

Back in the day, we didn’t have all these inexpensive, screaming deal options for business cards like we do now, so being able to print something incredibly fancy with Gold Leaf like foil print was ultra special!

I was so excited about this business that I bought it with savings that I’d built from working at a local Dairy Queen.

I set the press up in my parent’s basement and proceeded to ‘tell’ everyone who had ears about my new venture.

I went on the meet some of the most interesting people… and because I was so enthusiastic and so young people were talking.

I was lucky enough to meet a fellow who was a top producer for Amway in our area. He invited me to many of his meetings… and I’m telling you these meeting were often in ‘standing room only’ halls.

Because he was “free enterprising” he was very impressed with me, so always made sure he introduced me to the crowds and told them what I did.

You would not believe the line ups I had in front of me waiting for me to take their orders!!

I did VERY, VERY well.

I truly believe that this all happened because of my enthusiasm and the fact I expected nothing less… after all my dad told me I could make anything happen if I was serious about success.

As time went on, I did sell my little press to get into marketing Wicker and Rattan when it was popular and started selling at ‘home parties’ similar to many other home businesses.

Again, I did very, very well…. And again expected nothing less.

When I was 18 I decided to buy a house. Everyone said “how on earth is an 18 year old going to be able to buy a house?”… particularly when I had only just graduated from high school.

I didn’t think there was anything ‘un-doable’… I just expected that I would buy a house and set the intention to do so.

Within a very short few months I did indeed find the cutest little house right in my own neighbourhood.

There were a few challenges in getting a mortgage approved, due to my age and obviously I had not built up a credit rating yet. My dad was self employed in Real Estate so he was not the prime candidate (even though he did well) to co-sign.

With a little research, I ended up finding an ingenious financial planner who was able to make me look worth more that I was.

At the end of the day I ended up with the house I chose and my goal was met!

At this point, the one hurdle I had was that, if truth be told couldn’t afford the mortgage comfortably and still ‘eat’… so this was a bit of a concern… so I set my mind to finding a room mate.

One night after pulling an afternoon shift at a hotel where I now worked as a Front office Manager (and yes… I was a Manager at 18… because I ‘wanted’ to be and knew I could) … (that’s another story in itself that is obviously based on my producing the right vibes)…. I popped into a local bar. (Did I say that with my outside voice?)

I live in a town that used to be very small… all of us ‘young ‘ens” used to congregate at a little hole in the wall pub… we knew everyone in there so it was quite safe… a bit like “Cheers”…) sorry I digress.

When I walked up to get a drink, I ran into a girlfriend who I had not seen for “donkey’s years”. She told me she was looking for a place to live in the area… and did I know or anyone who had a suite or needed a room mate?

I told her about my house and that I needed a roommate… and Bingo! Problem solved!

As time went on while at my ‘hotel job’ I received a couple of additional promotions and ended up being one of the catering managers.

It was a fun job, especially promoting weddings but after a few years of working every single weekend… planning the weddings of others, in the back of my mind… I kind of wanted a break. I knew if I didn’t make a change, I’d likely spend the rest of my life planning weddings for everyone else, but never my own!

At that time however, I was kind of married to my job and certainly couldn’t afford to be without it to be honest… so I was afraid to look elsewhere due to financial stability reasons.

Then… out of the blue one day, I had a bit of a “tiff” with the general manager (I was actually in the right to tell the truth) but she saw it differently and ‘canned my butt out of there’….

When the owner of the hotel heard, he was furious, so he called me into his office which was in a different location than the hotel. He was a very, very wealthy man who owned a number of restaurant chains as well as the hotel and had quite a conglomerate of successful organizations.

He suggested I take a few weeks off to have a ‘rest’ BUT… he reinstated my position at the hotel and gave me a date to return to my job. He also paid me a huge severance package that he told me to keep… even despite the fact he had given me my job back.

As I stayed home … on a well deserved break, I realized that I should use that time to find another job as working at the hotel just didn’t ‘feel’ right anymore … working the way I did, day in day out, week in week out at the busy catering job.

I had a few interviews and soon found another job in a completely different industry. It was at this new firm, an industrial equipment business that I met my husband.

(might I mention, I was not ‘hell bent’ on finding a husband. I have always enjoyed my own company… but it did linger in the back of my mind… that “one day it might be nice to hook up with someone”. (Just clarifying! )

My husband at the time had a long time girlfriend and while I had no intentions of trying to wiggle in… I thought he was an all round great guy and thought “hmmm… he’s a bit of ‘alright’ and a great attitude to boot”.

A couple of months later…’this handsome fellow’ told me he’d broken off his relationship with his girlfriend. He asked me out and we went on our first date. A little over a year later we were married!

We went on to do all sorts of exciting things together and life was great.

I ended up changing careers to work at a huge restaurant supply firm.

Previous to securing this position however, had a heck of a challenge ‘getting’ my foot in the door. You see, the moment I heard of this company, I had my sights set on working there.

After submitting application after application… I finally got an interview. Sadly, I didn’t get the job on my first interview, or my second… and I will admit it knocked my confidence a bit.

Refusing to quit trying, I began dropping in to say ‘hi’ (wink) to the manager often… at least once per month. I’m sure after a while he wondered if I was stalking him…

Thankfully after many attempts, I eventually got the job I’d been after.

During my tenure at that company I received a few promotions… but there was one particular position I wanted … and I just couldn’t seem to land it, despite trying my best and giving it my best effort.

This was definitely an ego buster… and I could tell there was a shift within me that didn’t feel quite as confident as I used to be.

Despite that … I managed quite well… and stuck it out.

I was starting to become a little frustrated at my lack of control … and my inability to get to where I wanted to be. I longed to work for myself but didn’t know what I would do… although somewhere in the back of my mind… I just knew that one fine day all the chips would fall into place.

Then… after work one evening, my husband were talking. He was feeling a bit overworked and underpaid and needed more work life balance, so we decided to start our own business… which was to go into competition with the heavy equipment firm he still worked at.

I know it sounds a little shady, but it was an industry he knew well and was a top producer for. I had some experience too. We decided that the only way to make this happen would be to go with the saying “start where you are, with what you have”…. which is what we did!

It was a long shot… and a hard one at that as we were now setting out to compete with one of the largest and most well established companies in our industry.

Nevertheless we did it and used the fear of failure in our favour to put the wind beneath our wings to forge ahead. We managed to save a small amount of money and went out and bought the necessary equipment, found a shop to rent (a tiny one at that) and made it happen.

I stayed at my “restaurant supply” job for a few months while my husband ran the business. Then over dinner one night ,we made a split second decision that I would quit my job and come and work with him as he was starting to get too busy to answer phones and be out on a job at the same time.

Naturally during this time I had already been doing all the paperwork for the company and had some experience in that industry due to working at the previous company where I met him.

Thing just sailed and we started hiring staff. We now both knew that we could do whatever we set our minds to and expressed gratitude every day.

As we grew, I could see the need for a bigger building but couldn’t really imagine ‘how’ we’d manage to find one.

One day, right out of the blue and during the exact time I was pondering our “space issues”, a realtor came walking in my office with a brochure advertising a large building in our area that was for sale.

It had a hefty price tag… but was perfect for our needs.

I said to my husband “let’s just go look at it for fun”… he said OK

When we saw the building we fell in love with it and immediately set out to find a way to make it happen.

I won’t go into all the details, but at the end of the day, we had this massive building complete with offices and much more… right downtown in the city in which we did most of our work.

During all of this time… we still lived at the home I purchased when I was 18. The house was super cute and cozy but it was a little small.

I always imagined putting a second floor on it. Not for any particular reason… we could have make do at that point as we had no children… but I had this perfect picture in my mind of a second floor with vaulted ceilings, river rock columns and lots of character.

When I think about it I used visualization back then… and still do today in order to get clear on my goals.

I suppose back then it was a pipe dream to be honest… until that was, I found was expecting my first surprise. (My beautiful daughter!)

At this time the necessity for more space was a little more pressing… so we hired an engineer to look at the structure of our home to see if the foundations were strong enough to allow us to build on top.

There are many details and a few challenges but we were able to get them resolved. At the end of it all, we not only added a second floor but we tripled the size of the house. Funnily enough… the house looks very close to what I imagined years before when I “dreamed” of expanding.

During this huge reno, we not only lived in the discomfort of construction, but we also worked full time. (More like double time!!)

My daughter was being taken care of by mom during the day, which was awesome… but I felt SO guilty. OMG… it was enough to kill me when I had to leave her each day and miss out on all her growth.

To add to this, I found I was now expecting my second surprise. (my beautiful son!) I couldn’t believe it! Joe’s arrival only added to my desire to come home to raise my own children and the urge was even more pressing. The problem was however, I could see no way out of working full time at the office but couldn’t get it out of my mind.

During all of these events, I think because of all the stress, hard work, perhaps a bit of post partum on my part… and … I believe a bit of a mid life on my husbands part due to the huge lifestyle changes… things just didn’t continue to work the way they did.

We grew apart and again there are many painful details (bloody awful if truth be told)… but our marriage failed and I found myself on my own with the kids.

At that stage of the gameI made the decision to sell my portion of the business to stay home with the kids but I had no idea how my then husband was going to manage to pay me out of the business as now it had grown to a good size.

I just decided that things would have to work out and even though I believed they would (one way or the other) I still felt horrendously crappy every single day.

Eventually he was able to find a way to pay me out… and I now had mydream now of being at home with the kids even though it certainly did not come about in the way I had imagined…

Looking back, I truly think things ‘could’ have worked out equally as well if we had done things differently and communicated with one and other. At the time though, I think we were both so run down that the eternal spark and upbeat energy we both normally would possessed in our mindset… just faded. We both put out the wrong signals, thought negatively and neither or us had the right attitude.

As I stayed at home, even though now with the kids, I was a complete train wreck. I used to wake up in the morning and think ‘oh Gosh not another day to go through.”… I was completely negative and completely depressed and even though I was home with the kids… I could not, for the life in me, imagine feeling better.

Eventually I made the decision that I HAD to snap out of it and learn to feel better… after all, what were the kids going to remember me as when they grew up?? A depressed mother who was no fun??

I also had to pull my self out of it for financial reasons too. Even though I did ‘well’ so to speak being paid out of the business, I was ok for a while but certainly I was NOT on a retirement plan by any stretch.

I started implementing a number of techniques into my daily life … all these things I came up with myself as well and later learned they are widely used. Funnily they worked!! and Ill share them in an upcoming post.

As time went by I continued to make it my mission to look for the bright side of life and began to feel better and better.

One morning I was out with the kids and ran into a friend who I had not seen for over 20 years. He told me was a top producer for a MLM business and showed me the opportunity. It was a juice product promoting wellbeing.

He did very well, and after he shared it with me, I decided to give it a whirl!

Because I was alone with the kids I couldn’t manage doing home parties, etc,. in order to promote it, so I decided to market this opportunity online.

This is what led me to where I am today.

While I knew nothing about Online Marketing… I decided to learn it… and set my intentions on doing so.

After a while and during my travels on the internet, I came across a personal development business opportunity.

Even though I was greatly improved to what I used to me… this particular Biz Opp. was just the ticket to improve my moral and mindset even further.

Hence this became my primary focus and my ‘real’ online business started to roll. Things were really turning around… but more importantly… so was I!

Since then I have branched out into becoming a Certified Life Coach as well as I spend most of my days training others to market online… regardless as to whether they join me in my business opportunity or not.

Deep inside, all along, I just knew things would work out if I was willing to allow the law of attraction to take the lead… and it has.

Now, last but not least… this is one of the more comical parts of the Law of Attraction being at work in my life:

Just before Christmas… 2011… I went out to my little guest house that I have behind my home to get my wrapping paper. (I don’t think I mentioned I had a little cottage in the back).

I store just about everything I don’t use on a regular basis in there. It was indeed “full o stuff” and stacked floor to ceiling Rubbermaid totes.

As I was in the cottage… I thought “oh… this is such a cute little place, too bad nobody enjoys it anymore…”

That was the end of that thought!

Later that day, I ran out on an errand… (Not thinking about the cottage)… but for “some reason” started thinking of a friend who I used to see often when I was with my husband.

Since my husband and I split, I have not seen this friend who I’ll call Jim for many years as he remained close to my husband while I was more or less ‘ousted’ out of that circle!

I really missed him to tell you the truth and I thought to myself… “hmm I’d love to run into Jim one day and have a good chat”.

— End of thought—-

Later that very day, (evening actually) my best friend Julie and I decided to take our kids downtown to see the Christmas lights. As she was driving my phone rang but I didn’t recognize the number.

When I answered the phone it was “Jim”… !!!!

It had been six years since I spoke to him… and had only thought of him a few hours earlier!

He said “hey Jayne… it’s Jim… how are you”.

You could have knocked me over with a feather!!

After a few moments of chatting… he said “you know I’ve really been thinking about you a lot lately… lets get together and get caught up”.

Then he said “the real reason I’m phoning you this minute however is because I have a friend who is in desperate need for a place to stay for a few months… is your cottage available by any chance??”

Coincidence??? Or not???

I think not!

I truly believe that anything you approach with the right mindset, the Law of Attraction with help you manifest what ever it is you think about.

Some of these examples may have been due to hard work and persevering …but certainly not all of them.

Most things in my life would hot have occurred as in many cases I had odds against me but I think because I remained open… didn’t overthink things and decided to have a little faith… things just worked.

Furthermore, I know it’s the Law of Attraction at work and it can work for you too… no matter how you feel or how much you ‘can’t see’ how it might.

When using the Law of Attraction, just respect and expect. Don’t worry about the details. If you set your intentions knowing that things can be bent and molded into shape to make it happen, you don’t have to worry about the ‘how’s or why’s.

Leave everything up to the Law of Attraction and things WILL work out if you have the right attitude even if sometimes in very mysterious ways!

Over the last few years we’ve all heard a lot about the Law of Attraction, particularly since Rhonda Byrns introduced the best selling book (and subsequently the movie) The Secret.

Since then, millions of people jumped on the bandwagon to learn more about this new ‘technique’ or ‘secret’ hoping to create positive life changes.

The funny thing is though; it isn’t a ‘secret’ and never has been. Basically the book merely re-introduced the Law of Attraction… a simple law that has always existed and is as old as the universe itself.

The Law of Attraction basically states simply that ‘like attracts like’ and our thoughts will always return the results they focus on’ good or bad… like it or not.

It works for everyone and everything even if you reject the principle… but since it works “regardless” of your beliefs surrounding it… the better choice (for you) is to remain open and aware of it… and direct it to work in your favour.

Of course there are many people who feel this whole ‘law thingy” is mere quackery and that anybody who subscribes to its existence is “one sandwich short of a picnic”.

Funny how these people are almost always stuck in the same set of circumstances …never get ahead and continue getting the same as they’ve always gotten throughout their entire life.

Successful people on the other hand more often than not, just get better and better all the time. … and whether they realize it or not… the Law of Attraction is working within them as well, even though they may not actually be thinking about it!

The bottom line is you don’t need to be aware of it, you don’t even have to be introduced to it… it just IS; and depending on your outlook, attitude and the way you approach life it’ll work only according to your signals.

Because this fact is as true as stubbing a toe causes pain… I would strongly suggest that if you’re miserable all the time… and can’t seem to get a grip on life, it might not be a bad idea to learn more about it and examine the benefits of working with it instead!

So HOW does the Law of Attraction Work then?

The law of attraction works in the background of each and every one of us based on the vibrational energy we emit.

It works on the principle that ‘like’ attracts ‘like’ and runs like clockwork. It’s based on energy that we all emit, attracting the same energy back. Regardless as to whether feeling up / down / sideways or standing on your head… you’ll attract things or circumstances in direct proportion to what you’re putting out there.

Now if I’ve really thrown you for a loop and your rolling your eyes thinking the men in “the white coats” should be called to take me away to talk about ‘vibes’ from a padded cell… that’s ok… I’ll explain.

Everything on the planet, living or not, gives off a vibrational signal. There is actually a Law of Vibration to back this up too if you’re interested in reading about it.

These ‘vibes’ give off energy that will attract the similar or ‘like’ energy.

For example: Have you even been in the company of someone who is always negative? I certainly have and to be honest it just drains me. I don’t function well, and usually can’t wait to either turn things around or get the heck out. They probably can’t stand me either because we’re just not on the same wavelength… and because misery likes company…there’s a conflict and we just can’t gel.

Furthermore, people who feel down and are negative all the time never seem to get ahead or even begin to make positive changes. They’re often always broke, always depressed, and things just seem to go wrong no matter what they do.

They’ll often be heard saying things like ‘yea right… that’d never happen to me’ (when referring to something positive), or “things always go wrong in my life”… or “I just can’t get ahead of the eight ball and I’m always stuck”… and on and on they go.

Sadly… they’re right … and it’s all because of their attitude and the way they view life.

On the other hand, there are people who are always at the top of their game. They’re happy, successful, positive and just ‘feel’ really good to be around.

Things in their life just flow. It’s calm, fulfilling, easy and great things just happen to them even when they least expect it.

Spending time with these inspiring people is wonderfully motivational and if you’re open to soaking in all the energy they emit, you too can start to feel really great as well.

All feelings, manifestations, or connections have to do with the energy they are putting out … as well as your own… and energy will always relentlessly look for its own vibrational match.

Now if you are wondering what I meant when I said ‘if you’re open’ … I’m meaning that depending on where you are energy wise, lets, say you’re somewhere in the middle…not negative, but not overly positive… depending on your inner desires and beliefs of what is or is not possible… you can be brought UP to their level or dragged DOWN. It all depends on what side of the teeter-totter your mindset is leaning towards.

Because of our ability to match the vibrations of others, you’ve probably heard people suggest we keep the company of positive or successful people if you want the same as they have.

It’s not so much that these positive and successful people will necessarily physically DO something for you (although they might)… the real reason is because by being around this positive energy if you’re open and have the same desires, you’ll automatically raise your own vibrational energy to match theirs.

If there were no truth to this, then why do people listen to motivational speakers?

I know people don’t look at going to a seminar as necessarily working on the ‘law of attraction’ in their lives”, BUT… there is something in the subconscious of all of us that knows it’ll make us feel great! Lets face it’ we all like to feel ‘up’ and having a happy, healthy outlook always produces better results in anything we do.

Closed minded people on the other hand usually like nothing to do with self improvement, Law of Attraction or anything remotely positive. They’ve decided they’re exempt from the good things in life… and because of this… they most often are.

You see, this whole LOA thingy isn’t only for those who’ve been smoking something funny. I’m about the most ‘normal’ person you’ll meet; I’m certainly not ‘out there’ walking around in a long flowing floral gown wearing a ‘Daisy Crown”…

The fact of the matter is it exists in the lives of even the straightest thinkers. The Law of attraction will work without exception, just as sure as sure as hitting your thumb with a hammer will cause it to hurt..

There are those who look at the universal laws as being too new agey and tend to think its something that’s has been invented by psychics, gypsies and magicians and goes against their personal spiritual beliefs.

What they don’t realize is its all part of creation. Even the Bible says “Ask and it shall be given unto you”… Same principle and it works!

The bottom line is… you can call it what you want. You don’t have to call it the “Law of Attraction” if you don’t want. That’s just a bit of an over used label.

It’s just that life will flow in the direction of your desires and inner programming and has more to do with the meatloaf between your ears than anything else.

By thinking negatively, you’ll be negative. Thinking positive will cause you to be positive. In other words, whatever you want to happen will happen… good bad or ugly.

Throughout my life I’ve had some great things occur but I’ve also gone through stages that were plain bogus too. When I reflect on any situation or circumstances I’ve experienced, there’s no question in my mind that it’s all been based on my mindset and the way I’ve felt.

I’m not suggestion you go freakishly overboard on trying to force things in your life, but I am suggesting is you remain open, relaxed and always positive.

Some of my own experiences based on being open minded and taking life one step at a time while maintaining a positive mindset have really been quite incredible and quite laughable in many ways. I’ll share a few of them on my next post.

If there’s one suggestion I would make however it’s to work on your attitude if you’re not where you want to be. Think positive and know things can turn around big time. I guarantee ‘things’ will show up at the right time even if not always exactly as you had envisioned or expected.

Look up, not down and get the Law of Attraction working for you. Keep tabs on what you think about and what you wish for and you will draw into your life everything you dream about!

If there’s one suggestion I would offer to Newbie’s starting an online business it would be: “Be careful who you listen to”… or at least “choose carefully” when the time is right.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t educate yourself and learn from a few people. What I am saying is don’t spend all your time reading everything you can get your hands on… at least not for an extended period of time because to tell you the truth…you’ll get “nowhere”… fast!

My suggestion would be to learn a few key tasks to start with and focus on one thing at a time. Don’t for Heaven’s sake get into the state of analysis paralysis coupled by overwhelm.

I meet with a mastermind group every so often and the single most common challenge faced by many… (from beginners to even some experienced individuals) is sheer overwhelm.

As we all know these days, there’s an abundance of free information provided by savvy online marketers keeping us informed about new products, tips, tricks, and advice.
There’s also an over abundance of information intended to keep up to date with SEO Strategies, time savers, social media strategies, blog performance information….the list goes on.

While I realize much of this information is indeed very useful and is offered generously, it can be a heck of a turn off for someone who is just getting started. Actually… it can be overwhelming for many of us who have been at this game for a few years as well!

In my humble opinion, regardless of where you are in your venture I wholeheartedly feel that getting started and focusing on mastering one task at a time will get your further ahead than being ‘nosey’ (so to speak) and trying to keep up with every single change, every single piece of advice and every single “Jones” you meet!

You see things change just about every single day. With the way technology is these days you would have to spend 24 hours per day to keep up with every improvement, advancement and update!

Admittedly, there are people who do manage to keep up somewhat… and do it well…the difference is that they are experienced, they have their business rolling full tilt and ‘this’ IS their business. In other words… keeping up to date on this type of information is their specialty.

The rest of us however just want to market a service, business opportunity, or product. Sometimes having an optimal blog or knowing every time Google “farts“…won’t make or break our business!

Sometimes a new plug-in won’t help us… or a browser tweak won’t make a scrap of difference. New tools promising advanced ways to get 10,000 subscribers per day certainly will never do us a scrap of good either but they’ll sure as heck drag us away from
what we should be doing and likely never produce half of the things they promise.

I’m not meaning to sound in the least bit disrespectful to the legitimate folks who are “in the know” because I’ve learned a lot from many of them over the years and really do appreciate a good handful of them at that.

The point I’m trying to make is you have to walk before you can run and don’t need to be on the cutting edge of everything at the start.

For us regular folk, new information flying at us every day does nothing more than hinder our progress and can make it difficult to know what to do first, what to do at all and is sometimes so beyond what we are ready for … or might ever need.

Many people get so caught up in all the ‘new stuff’ and all the latest and greatest tips that they don’t even master the basics. At the end of the day they feel so deflated they give up all together.

Again, being informed has its place and I’m not suggesting you bury your head in the sand completely. I’m just trying to impress the fact that in the beginning there are a few basic steps to starting an online business. The first one is “getting started”

For example: If you are building a website or blog, then focus on getting the infrastructure in place and optimize it the best you can. You can always come back and tweak it later on… but at least get that basic item in place before trying to learn more.

Then, adopt only two or three marketing strategies until you master them and until you get a decent flow of traffic to your site. If you find they don’t produce the results you desire… then consider trying something different at that point. DON’T jump around aimlessly either, stabbing this one a little here and the other one a little there. Give everything you do a little time and a fair trial period.

I would also suggest getting involved in ONLY a group or two of individuals in order to network. By default you will learn a few extra tips here and there… but I certainly wouldn’t join every group you see and spend all of your time reading each and every post. You’ll never implement everything so don’t waste your time taking all advice for gospel unless or until you need it.

Don’t subscribe to every list you see online. The result will be that you will literally get bombarded with emails and information you could do without and end up collecting more free reports than you know what to do with. (Many you may never get to read or it might be so beyond your abilities or requirements you will never implement them anyway).

Starting an online business, just like any business takes hard work, focus, consistency and common sense. Everything starts small and grows with time. Everything is trial and error in the beginning until something ‘clicks’ and starts to work.

Taking the advice from each and every self proclaimed guru, or even every guru in their own right will never move you ahead or build your business. If you must follow a ‘guru’ … choose one and stick with them.

If you try to follow everyone, you’ll be spread too thin, your focus will be smashed to smithereens, you’ll lose consistency, and you’ll be worn out. At the end of each day you’ll wonder what the hell you did or where the time went and you’ll realize you never did put your head down and get any of your own work accomplished.

What’s worse is you might even end up emptying your wallet on cleverly marketed ‘must have magic products’ they suggest and end up with a collection of ‘who knows what” at the end of it all. I guarantee you’ll definitely not feel warm and fuzzy once the initial euphoria has worn off. You’ll feel worse when you get your Credit Card statement!

The moral of my rant is when starting an online business:

Put your blinders on and don’t be nosey. Instead, mind YOUR own business! It is impossible to stay on top of each and every change that occurs in the online marketing world and this includes the changes that Google makes every few months.

If you absolutely feel you must scout around and learn more and more each and every day… make sure you limit your time on this activity to an hour or so at max. If you don’t you will find you spend more time reading and less time doing and that will not get you to where you want to be.

Last but not least be Careful who you listen to!

Though there are very well educated and genuinely awesome mentors out there, there are also those who do nothing more than regurgitate pure hype and are not making a red cent despite their superman cape.

If you’re a “newbie” starting an online business…take heed:

**Slow and steady will always get you to where you want to be faster than by trying to be the Jack of all Trades. You’ll only end up being the “master of none” and eternally chasing the magic bullet that has never existed.

**Find a mentor or a coach if you need to be steered to keep you focused and on track and ultimately move you ahead.

**If you’re suffering from analysis paralysis and overwhelm due to information overload, start by unsubscribing to any lists you’re
currently on that don’t provide you with immediate actionable steps or value.

**Then make a short list of the bare necessities you need to help you conquer the stage you’re at and consistently work on this list every day.

**Once your wheels are in motion and you’re doing the basics WELL… take on more. Oh… and don’t be sucked in by fear mongering headlines that read “If you’re Not Doing This In Your Business, You’ll Soon Be Dead!” (These are such a dis-service)

Truth is… You Won’t be dead! (or even close to it.)

How do I know?

Being totally transparent here, I’ll put my cards on the table and admit that I have been in a place of total confusion more than once and taken in by noise and hype. I’ll also confess it’s done nothing but hinder my progress and that I have found out the hard way.

The good news is however, once I shut myself off from all the hustle and bustle and took my own advice; I experimented with some of my own techniques and ideas and immediately started producing measurable results.
(Even without been at the cutting edge of everything new). Hmm … Imagine that!

If you’re looking to start a business online but have found you’re caught up in information overload and you’re frozen stiff with eyes are rolling back in your head like a slot machine, I hope my post will hit home, help you re think and even restore hope if you lost any.

If you still need some common sense, solid assistance from yours truly (That’d be me) feel free to contact me at any time and let’s see if I can’t help clear your internal clutter, get you on the straight and narrow and move your forward to starting an online business!

If you’ve made the decision to make positive changes this year, I hope you’re practicing the art of forward thinking rather than staying stuck in the past.

The reason I’m discussing this topic today is because I ran into a lady at the grocery store the other day who is aware I work full time online.

She asked me how things were going with business and I know she was genuinely interested because she called me last year a couple of times to ask questions and considered starting a business herself.

Naturally, I told her the truth, that things were great … and then asked her how things were going in her world.

Her response was ‘ok I guess… but I haven’t done anymore on the business end of things’….

I said “oh and why’s that?”

She said “well, ya know, last year was such a rough year for me” (she split with her husband LAST January which is a shame of course), “and you know, I’ve been thinking about it, but I’ve never really done anything like this before, it’s all new to me”….

Then she went on to say that she never did well “writing essays and such….and didn’t really know how she’d do writing articles or building a site’….

She also told me that she still felt dragged down with the after effects of her family situation…but… then she said…. “but I’m still really interested in getting started and have a few good ideas and have and have been thinking about it”

Ah ha! (I thought)… ‘She’s stuck in the past’…I then thought to myself “if she’s been thinking about it… it certainly hasn’t been purposeful”…

Before we parted she told me she’d made a resolution to make some changes and improve this year and was still really interested in getting started online. Hmmm… how fitting I thought… she may have made a resolution but certainly not a decision to make it happen’

Now don’t get me wrong, I know all about the stresses of unfortunate family situations. (In fact, I could be the New York Bestseller on the topic)… In fact… come to think of it… that’s one heck of an idea… perhaps I’ll consider that as one of my next projects

Seriously though, I know how heartache and stress can definitely knock the stuffing out of you and leave you feeling like an energy less blob. (Really I do).

I also know how it feels to have struggled in some areas of life or felt a little intimidated at the thoughts of trying something new.

Her fears pertain to writing… my challenge is ‘tech stuff’.

I also know all about over-thinking due to ‘fear of failure’… but I also know at some point have to put one foot in front of the other and make a choice to create changes.

The point is though, how long is she going to stay stuck in a rut and stuck in the past and let it hold her back from enjoying life the way she should?

You see, all change has to start with being a forward thinker (opposed to a looking back). Then stick to a decision to move forward regardless as to whether you’re venturing into new and unchartered territory.

None of us can change the past. What’s happened has already happened and sadly there is no ‘rewind’ on life. I know it isn’t always uplifting and can indeed be very challenging, but unless you want to stay frozen in bad feelings, memories and everything else, you have to decide you’re going to implement the art of forward thinking and look to the future not over your shoulder.

The truth is most people do experience pain and hurdles at some point during life, but if we all just curled up in the fetal position and did nothing and didn’t exert the effort to re-design the future, we’d all be stuck at home every day, eating chocolates and watching reruns of Oprah with a big box of Kleenex and an overflowing garbage can.

Everything would come to a halt and we’d all be flat and very depressing!

Anyway, I think you get my point.

So how do you start “forward thinking”?

In short, you have to come to terms with what ‘has been’ and realize there’s nothing anyone can do to reverse it. You then need to look forward to what lies before you and each and everyone of us and look for new things that will reward you and make you happy and fulfilled.

You have to visualize how you’d like your ideal life to look and then plan the steps (as direct as possible) in order to get there.

Don’t worry about each and every detail… or the fact you may be inexperienced when it comes to performing some of the tasks you may need to tackle along the way. You’ll learn the things you need as you go, but you just need to start where you are and use what you have and personal belief you can achieve whatever it is you dream about. (Because you can!)

It’s all about picking ourselves up and brushing ourselves off and getting on with ‘it’… what ever ‘it’ is.

We live in a time were (in most countries) there is an abundance of opportunity. If you’re reading this post right now… you live in one of those countries.

We can always improve! Even if you’re not thinking about making financial or business changes… even if you just want to… let’s say… feel better and improve your life…. OR..you’d like to lose weight or get fit… (The list goes on) everything starts with adjusting your outlook and tweaking the way your think… then taking action on your thoughts.

Ok, so my acquaintance hasn’t taken any steps to start a business she’s thought about for over a year because she’s had a rough time with her marriage failing at the beginning of last year. So… can she fix it by staying imobile?? (Answer: Nope!)

So then what are her options?

Well… she is going to have to become a forward thinker and look to the future…not the past. She is going to have to make the decision to improve. She is going to have to accept what has happened and then OPEN HER EYES to everything else that can help her design a better life not stay blinded by her grief.

The long and short is she is going to have to suck it up and start writing to improve her skills or find an alternate way of sharing her knowledge (if she’s serious about success).

She’s going to have to either learn to build a site or get someone to do it for her.(Again, if she want’s to do what she says she does).

If this is truly her desire, she has to get unstuck from the past limiting beliefs and barriers that she has allowed to hold her captive and MOVE.

Hey… I know all about dwelling on the past and know the feelings are real. Been there, one that, bought the whole series of T-shirts and I’ll be the first to admit it’s quite painful and takes energy to break free of the stronghold.

What I can tell you though is that when I decided to make changes and become a forward thinker… and made the decision to improve I regained that energy and found more zest for life.

I do acknowledge the fact that we’re all different but for me the change occurred when I participated in a personal development program and subsequently learned to market the attached business opportunity. For me, this helped me make both personal and financial change and the clouds parted and the sun began to shine again and with every step I took, the more opportunities I discovered.

I had to ignore the fact that in the past I’d done nothing techy… other than send and receive emails… (on good days with an attachment) and face the challenges head on to learn what I needed to do. Funnily, things are never as difficult as you can talk yourself into believing they are.

I had to remind myself that nobody is born with the knowledge or built in talent to do anything… and that everything new has to be learned… and can be.

This forward thinking attitude applies to any area of life.

If you want to lose weight and change your diet… you’re going to have to education yourself on a new lifestyle change pertaining to the way you eat.

If you want to start get fit and start working out, you’ll have to join a gym and get help or hire a personal trainer to show you the ropes.

If you wanted to start a new hobby… lets say “pottery”… you’re going to have to take the steps to learn the art of doing so.

If you want to reorganize your life … or even your house… you have to think ahead and envision and plan the things you need to do and then take action to make it work.

You might suck hugely at first… but its all part of the conquering process and it will fall into place once you get moving!

What I can tell you is that once the wheels are in motion, you get better and will feel happier and more fulfilled as your attention will be focused on your new accomplishments and the past will fade and become less prevalent in your current existence.

Forward thinkers look ahead and open their eyes to what can be. They acknowledge what needs to be changes and take the steps to make it happen.

Over thinking your shortfalls or playing the violin about past failures or weaknesses won’t do a bloody thing for your self worth, self esteem or current situation.

If you want this year… or any year to be the year you change your life for the better, look ahead to what lies before each and every one of us. Change your mindset, determine the skills you need to learn or the steps you need to take and move forward. You can make anything happen if you want and all it takes is a split second decision to change your life!

Again, for the final time…(sounding like a parrot now) …Nobody can change the past so there’s no use in staying there. Nobody can change you… except you. So use that noodle between your ears, and get moving, regardless of what it is you wish to achieve. The futures bright… walk into the light and you will definitely feel the shift in your outlook but only if you keep your eyes open to what can be rather than what was!

Incidentally, I know I’ve repeated myself in different ways but they say people need to hear things a few times over before the penny drops. I’m hoping that hammering this message home will help the point sink in to the ‘loaves’ of those who need a push.

If you’ve been stuck in the past and would like to move forward, contact me and lets see if we can’t get you to feel more satisfied with life and get you moving in the direction of your dreams.
