The Law of Attraction | It’s Working For You… Like It or Not!

by Jayne Kopp on January 20, 2012

the law of attraction, law of attraction works

Over the last few years we’ve all heard a lot about the Law of Attraction, particularly since Rhonda Byrns introduced the best selling book (and subsequently the movie) The Secret.

Since then, millions of people jumped on the bandwagon to learn more about this new ‘technique’ or ‘secret’  hoping to create positive life changes.

The funny thing is though; it isn’t a ‘secret’ and never has been.  Basically the book  merely re-introduced the Law of Attraction… a simple law that has always existed and is as old as the universe itself.

The Law of Attraction basically states simply that ‘like attracts like’ and our thoughts will always return the results they focus on’ good or bad… like it or not.

It works for everyone and everything even if you reject the principle… but since it works “regardless” of your beliefs surrounding it… the better choice (for you) is to remain open and aware of it… and direct it to work in your favour.

Of course there are many people who feel this whole ‘law thingy”  is mere quackery and that anybody who subscribes to its existence is “one sandwich short of a picnic”.

Funny how these people are almost always stuck in the same set of circumstances …never get ahead and continue getting the same as they’ve always gotten throughout their entire life.

Successful people on the other hand more often than not, just get better and better all the time.  … and whether they realize it or not… the Law of Attraction is working within them as well, even though they may not actually be thinking about it!

The bottom line is you don’t need to be aware of it, you don’t even have to be introduced to it… it just IS; and depending on your outlook, attitude and the way you approach life it’ll work only according to your signals.

Because this fact is as true as stubbing a toe causes pain… I would strongly suggest that if you’re miserable all the time… and can’t seem to get a grip on life,  it might not be a bad idea to learn more about it and examine the benefits of working with it instead!

So HOW does the Law of Attraction Work then?

The law of attraction works in the background of each and every one of us based on the vibrational energy we emit.

It works on the principle that ‘like’ attracts ‘like’ and runs like clockwork.  It’s based on energy that we all emit, attracting the same energy back.  Regardless as to whether feeling up  / down / sideways or standing on your head… you’ll attract things or circumstances in direct proportion to what you’re putting out there.

Now if I’ve really thrown you for a loop and your rolling your eyes thinking the men in “the white coats” should be called to take me away to talk about ‘vibes’ from a padded cell… that’s ok… I’ll explain.

Everything on the planet, living or not, gives off a vibrational signal.  There is actually a Law of Vibration to back this up too if you’re interested in reading about it.

These ‘vibes’ give off energy that will attract the similar or ‘like’ energy.

For example:  Have you even been in the company of someone who is always negative?  I certainly have and to be honest it just drains me.  I don’t function well, and usually can’t wait to either turn things around or get the heck out.  They probably can’t stand me either because we’re just not on the same wavelength… and because misery likes company…there’s a conflict and we just can’t gel.

Furthermore, people who feel down and are negative all the time never seem to get ahead or even begin to make positive changes.  They’re often always broke, always depressed, and things just seem to go wrong no matter what they do.

They’ll often be heard saying things like ‘yea right… that’d never happen to me’ (when referring to something positive), or “things always go wrong in my life”… or “I just can’t get ahead of the eight ball and I’m always stuck”… and on and on they go.

Sadly… they’re right … and it’s all because of their attitude and the way they view life.

On the other hand, there are people who are always at the top of their game.  They’re happy, successful, positive and just ‘feel’ really good to be around.

Things in their life just flow.  It’s calm, fulfilling, easy and great things just happen to them even when they least expect it.

Spending time with these inspiring people is wonderfully motivational and if you’re open to soaking in all the energy they emit, you too can start to feel really great as well.

All feelings, manifestations, or connections have to do with the energy they are putting out … as well as your own… and energy will always relentlessly look for its own vibrational match.

Now if you are wondering what I meant when I said ‘if you’re open’ … I’m meaning that depending on where you are energy wise, lets, say you’re somewhere in the middle…not negative, but not overly positive… depending on your inner desires and beliefs of what is or is not possible… you can be brought UP to their level or dragged DOWN.  It all depends on what side of the teeter-totter your mindset is leaning towards.

Because of our ability to match the vibrations of others, you’ve probably heard people suggest we keep the company of positive or successful people if you want the same as they have.

It’s not so much that these positive and successful people will necessarily physically DO something for you (although they might)…  the real reason is because  by being around this positive energy if you’re open and have the same desires, you’ll automatically raise your own vibrational energy to match theirs.

If there were no truth to this, then why do people listen to motivational speakers?

I know people don’t look at going to a seminar  as necessarily working on the ‘law of attraction’ in their lives”, BUT… there is something in the subconscious of all of us that knows it’ll make us feel great!  Lets face it’ we all like to feel ‘up’  and having a happy, healthy outlook always produces better results in anything we do.

Closed minded people on the other hand usually like nothing to do with self improvement, Law of Attraction or anything remotely positive.  They’ve decided they’re exempt from the good things in life… and because of this… they most often are.

You see, this whole LOA thingy isn’t only for those who’ve been smoking something funny.  I’m about the most ‘normal’ person you’ll meet; I’m certainly not ‘out there’ walking around in a long flowing floral gown wearing a ‘Daisy Crown”…

The fact of the matter is it exists in the lives of even the straightest thinkers.  The Law of attraction will work without exception, just as sure as sure as hitting your thumb with a hammer will cause it to hurt..

There are those who look at the universal laws as being too new agey and tend to think its something that’s has been invented by psychics, gypsies and magicians and goes against their personal spiritual beliefs.

What they don’t realize is its all part of creation.  Even the Bible says “Ask and it shall be given unto you”…  Same principle and it works!

The bottom line is… you can call it what you want.  You don’t have to call it the “Law of Attraction” if you don’t want.  That’s just a bit of an over used label.

It’s just that life will flow in the direction of your desires and inner programming and has more to do with the meatloaf between your ears than anything else.

By thinking negatively, you’ll be negative.  Thinking positive will cause you to be positive.  In other words, whatever you want to happen will happen… good bad or ugly.

Throughout my life I’ve had some great things occur but I’ve also gone through stages that were plain bogus too.  When I reflect on any situation or circumstances I’ve experienced, there’s no question in my mind that it’s all been based on my mindset and the way I’ve felt.

I’m not suggestion you go freakishly overboard on trying to force things in your life, but I am suggesting is you remain open, relaxed and always positive.

Some of my own experiences based on being open minded and taking life one step at a time while maintaining a positive mindset have really been quite incredible and quite laughable in many ways. I’ll share a few of them on my next post.

If there’s one suggestion I would make however it’s to work on your attitude if you’re not where you want to be.  Think positive and know things can turn around big time.  I guarantee ‘things’ will show up at the right time even if not always exactly as you had envisioned or expected.

Look up, not down and get the Law of Attraction working for you.  Keep tabs on what you think about and what you wish for and you will draw into your life everything you dream about!

Loved reading this post. Agreed!

The law of attraction is there. It will always be here. I attract what I want in to my life, just as you do, just as everybody else does.

It is ironic that the people who don’t accept this way of thinking, are always ‘stuck’ and never seem to go anywhere. Shame.

Hey Jayne! These words here are worth repeating over and over and over…ok, I’m sure you feel me!

“…it just IS; and depending on your outlook, attitude and the way you approach life it’ll work only according to your signals….”

Also, I have positive LOA type of things hanging up in my office and a coworker came in one day and said something negative about me believing in “mumbo jumbo” – his words…funny (though not really hilarious) that he doesn’t see the connection with all the drama that manifests in his life…SMH..

Oh well, sucks to be him! LOL I, on the other hand, INTEND to attract positivity, love, great health, wealth, and joy in my life daily!

Toodles,
~Kesha

Hi Jayne,

As long as Jesus Christ lives in me, people will be attracted to me. The hardest thing to remember is that in reality, they are attracted to Him, not me.

Very interesting post. It could also be though that negative people are negative because negative things have happened, and not the other way around, but this is an interesting way of looking at it. Nice read.

Hi Jayne,

You’re right, it’s working whether or not we choose to believe it! I’ve had several conversations with people who don’t believe in it, usually because they think it’s nonsense. They think that the LOA is about thinking about money and then money magically appearing which is obviously silly. But when I explain how it really works then they get it! 🙂 I think a lot of people hear a piece of what it is and then fill in the blanks with misinformation.

Jayne, you are right there are lots of things between heaven and earth that people don’t understand. Think of the law of gravity. It is a law of this world and also of all stars and planets, but you can only see the results, not the law itself. The vibrations and the law of attraction are not able to be seen except through the results. Good article.

Hi Jayne,
Actually the phrase you said “By thinking negatively, you’ll be negative. Thinking positive will cause you to be positive. In other words, whatever you want to happen will happen…” it says it all, it’s so simply and it works in everything, business, personal relations everywhere, what you give you take.

For example if you feel negative for successful people you will never succeed, on the other hand if you respect them it’s very possible that you will keep yourself motivated to succeed like they did (who knows they might even help you). We all want to have around us positive people…

Great post Jayne:) I so am into the whole aspect of LOA and try and teach it when I’m mentoring.

It’s funny as so many people don’t get it or think it’s wishy washy etc. which is a great shame as I’m a great believer that having a positive mindset and embracing LOA makes a difference when it comes to having a successful business.

Jayne,

This is great..Yes at first the basic teachings of LOA is a bit redundant. However, new teachers of it start off a bit clicheish because of their clients. Not everyone knows or understands it. I have met a few people who never heard of it. When I spoke about it to them, I laughed at myself because it thought I sounded clicheish. lol wow..That’s not even a word. lol

I use my simple postings on this subject for my clients who never heard of it or doesn’t understand it. They find it very, very helpful…now on to the masters of LOA…They are now at the point of applying specific personal development techniques in their lives. Therefor this topic will sound a bit annoying to them.

Hi Tisha, I think it’s the ‘name’ and the fact it’s over used. It can be annoying when you don’t understand it… or even if you do because it’s been ‘all the rage’ these last few years.

I wish there was a different name that meant the same.

I find it amazing that people just don’t have a grasp on the ‘attitude/outlook’ factor, which is what it all boils down to in the end.

Lovely to see you

Hello Jayne!
Excellent post about LOA. I so agree with you. “Law of attraction,” though overused to a point where it’s beginning to sound like a cliche, is always at work. Just like I don’t have to believe in the sun to experience a sunrise, I don’t need to believe in LOA to see it work. Practicing LOA is simply about taking responsibility for the creative bundle of energy we harbor inside us.

Well put Srinivias. It’s just there isn’t it? Like it or not.

Awesome post Jayne! As you say, the Law of Attraction just is, whether people want to accept it or not. So why not focusing on attracting positive into your life instead of negative? Seems like such a simple concept to me. Here’s hoping that more people come around to focusing on the positive.

Jayne Kopp January 24, 2012 at 2:42 pm

Hi Jamella, I think because we ‘name’ it the LOA. People repel it.

Really, all it is … is mindset and belief.

It really is simple as you say.

Thanks for stopping by Jamella.

One thing that I’ve wondered about the law of attraction is that I’m a bit of a day dreamer (driving, showers, before bed mostly) and I usually picture my life how I want it to be in those day dreams.
My life looks nothing like those, and it’s been a couple of years now.

What am I doing wrong? Is my “Attractor Factor” broken? LOL

Herbert January 23, 2012 at 6:11 pm

IMO Warren, its not just your break. Just hold on to things and never let go 😀

Hey Herbert, I’ve been a day dreamer since I was young so I’ll take your advice and be patient! 🙂

Have a great day!

HI Warren… I’m not sure what you’re picturing! 🙂

Seriously though…How much ‘feeling’ are you putting into it. Do you think it CAN happen? or are you thinking of your desires as “dreams”.

It’s a GUT thingy. If you’re thinking “oh… wouldn’t it be nice if I sailed the seas in my yacht….”… but with the back of your might thinking “yea right… snap out of it self….”

It’s a ‘knowing’ thing. Any doubt will only get in the way of allowing things to happen!

Really… ! 🙂 You might think I’m dotty… but try it! You wouldn’t believe all the far fetched things I’ve been through that have got me to exactly where I wanted to be. 😉

I picture it as if it were already so, what it would feel like etc.
My fiance and I just bought a house outside of the city and she doesn’t have her license yet so I am currently spending 4 hrs. each of her work days driving. (So lots of time for planning and thinking of ideas to improve my blog and business, as well as day dreaming) 🙂

Thanks Jayne, wishing you all the best!

Jayne,

I truly believe that what you think about, you bring about! Also, like Paul J. Meyer used to say: ” Attitude is Everything!” It is amazing how my life has changed since I became aware of the LOA. I attract so many people and opportunities into my life that support my goals and plans. Some people think that using the LOA means winning the lottery and NOT having to work. I believe me, I still “work hard” at my business, but I get a lot more bang for my buck when I am using the LOA is working to support me and my business.

Thanks for the great post!

Basically, the Law of Attraction for me confirms the old saying “if you want to change the world, change your attitude to it”. And then the like will come to you. And there’s no doubt that “like attracts the like”.

Hi Jayne,
You realy made me laugh when you wrote:You see, this whole LOA thingy isn’t only for those who’ve been smoking something funny.
You are so right, you just found the best words to explain this whole article.
I was like that before I was always thinking about the past, why bad things happened to me.It only made me iller from day to day.Just one day I came to the conclusion that I might die one day with all my negative thoughts.I worked hard on it and being surrounded by great people only benifits me to stay positive.

Thanks for your great work and have a nice day.

Hello Sandy, thanks so much for stopping by my blog. It’s a pleasure to meet you!! 🙂

I came to the same conclusion Sandy. Negativity and stress are killers for sure. Not only of our spirit, but also our health and they don’t get us anywhere.

I’m so glad you saw the ‘light’ so to speak! (and had a laugh in the meantime!)

Hi Jayne,

Sorry, just pictured you “out there” in a floral gown wearing a daisy crown and couldn’t stop giggling 🙂

We are what we think and we attract what we think about. So we might as well think positive, right? A negative attitude brings us more negativity. And since our attitude determines our altitude, well, I don’t have to spell out where this negativity will land us.

“Change your attitude and you will change your life!”

Thanks for sharing another great post, Jayne!

Have a great weekened!

Thanks Ilka for your comment.

It really is as simple as that isn’t it? I know some people roll their eyes as the LOA is a bit over used these days. Those who have not heard about it tend to picture we who are familiar with it, dressed as I described!

Glad you got a kick out of the ‘visual’…
