Feeling down from time to time is just a part of life we have to overcome. The feelings could be caused by many things, or sometimes just an accumulation of issues.
In our day and age, life is pretty fast paced and can be quite exhausting, which certainly doesn’t help. Throw a disappointment or worry in the mix and you find yourself feeling down and often defeated.
I hate to admit it, but unfortunately I am an expert on the topic :-)! I’ve definitely had my share of bumps, grinds, heartaches and heartbreaks. I realize most people do and I’m also aware there are people who have it far worse.
I know first hand how absolutely draining it is to have that constricting feeling across your rib cage and the constant tightening of the elastic band around your heart caused from the wear of worry or anxiety. I lived it for many years, fighting the lump in my throat while smiling on the outside yet crumbling on the inside.
Fortunately, I also know first hand that it is possible to completely turn things around! 🙂
I’m grateful and pleased that I had the gumption to look beyond and realize that most things are only as bad as you allow them to be and overcoming these feelings is often simply a matter of changing your mindset and interpretation of these challenges.
With just a couple of tweaks and perspective shifts, it is possible to create a whole new outlook as long as you are dedicated to making these significant changes.
It’s important to realize that whatever you’re feeling down about is often only one facet of your life even though it rarely feels small at the time.
You need to realize there’s more to “‘you” than your challenge(s).
I’ve learned from experience it’s important to step back and take a breather in order to analyze all the other aspects of your life. You then should allow yourself to feel gratitude for all the other things that make up ‘you’ and contribute to your existence. (Children, family, friends and even the simple fact that you have the ability to sit and read this post today!)
The exercise of counting your blessings, is comforting and therapeutic and if you maintain this positive perspective shift, it can often snap you back to reality.
You may find also when comparing your situation to the problems of others, that you really don’t have anything to feel down about and in many cases find an even greater appreciation for your blessing in life.
Practicing these self-growth techniques is both healthy and liberating. There are so many opportunities and so much life to live. Practicing daily personal development is paramount in letting go, accepting the positives and maintaining the strength to move forward and accomplish everything you deserve.
